What do you think Disney has in their plans? Expand Hollywood Studios or open a 5th gate (Star Wars land)? Would it make more sense to just expand hollywood studios? I appreciate any thoughts or comments you may have! Have a magical night!!! =)

I think it would be crazy to open a fifth gate at this stage. Disney desperately needs to expand, update and improve the three non-MK parks. AK is already expensive beyond belief to operate so they *are* moving in the right direction with Avatar and turning it into a night-time park. I give them credit for that. Epcot and DHS definitely need big time reinvestment, as well. Not until this has been done should a 5th gate even be contemplated.

Star Wars should not be a gate by itself it needs to be another section to a preexisting park that being DHS. I'm sure disney has plans for both. I'm sure disney has had plans for both for a very long time. Disney has specific imagineers that just do concept drawings. AK is finally getting their long needed expansion. DHS should be next it has the worst attendance of the four WDW parks. DHS should get a DCA style revamp it needs a lot of help. Next should be Epcot with a future world fix up. World showcase is fine for now they should focus on future world. And than after that they should look into a 5th gate option. I don't think at this time MK needs anything.

I don't think either a 5th gate or a Star Wars centered gate would be good ideas right now. I'd rather Disney concentrate on enhancing their current parks (especially Epcot and HS), and maybe in the future a 5th gate could be a good idea to diverge WDW's increasing crowds even more.

Yeah , 5th gate would be bad idea until they have done a lot to the 3 non MK parks , with Hollywood studious being the most in need

I would rather see the attention spent on current parks than opening a new park... Currently I think AK is getting enough with a much needed boost (new land, nightime experiences etc) that will make it a much better park without sacrificing its special appeal.

Next up I would like to see 'LOVE' given to Hollywood... I think a Stars Wars expansion will be a natural fit here, just expand upon the existing (gift shop) area... add in a couple of new rides... a seedy space bar restaurant/bar would be fun.

I think Epcot could be made better by just retheming the areas it has and does not use... what about a tech sponser like Apple or MicroSoft putting something into innovations?

What are the rumors I have heard about a Sea WOrld type place? With the waning love for captive sea creatures (Blackfish anyone) this might not be the smartest move...

Any thing is possible, a 5 major park, additional smaller parks. However I do agree they need to address the problems at HS.AK and Epcot.

AKK

I agree with the majority of the comments here that DHS is in the most need of some attention. Now that Disney has the rights to both Star Wars and Indiana Jones, they could certainly use those themes to expand, update or replace some attractions. The backlot tour certainly has some real estate to contribute if they shut it down. The Great Movie Ride was the park's original centerpiece, but it's showing its age and would cost a fortune to update.

A Star Wars land would be a great fit in DHS. (Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru's BBQ Pit restaurant, anyone? Nah, they would never do that.)

I agree, a fifth gate would be the wrong move right now, expansions give you a reason to go back to a park you otherwise might skip.

I'd rather see expansion at DHS and updates to stuff at Epcot than a fifth park. Eventually, sure, a fifth park would be cool. But there's so much they can do with existing parks first.

Giving people a reason to spend more times in the existing parks, especially DHS and AK would give Disney the extra revenue they want without the huge extra expense of building a 5th park. It's much cheaper to build and operate a additional attractions in the existing parks then it would be to put those same attractions in a 5th park.

~Expansion. AK & DHS need more attractions. And then, there is Future World at Epcot -- something just has to be done with this. :(

If you're hearing rumors of a DisneySea park. this isn't a Sea World park. It's themed around myths and legends that relate to the sea. As far as I know, it doesn't have any captive live sea mammals.

agreed on expansion. hollywood could be so incredible if they grew it out more. no need for a 5th park when one of your main attractions needs attention

I think Disney should work on the parks it has now, like HS needs some touching up and new attractions like SW land, to pull in guests. Maybe after that they could add another park, I wouldn't complain either way ;)

There is a step by step process that must be done before building another park.

1. Turn Animal Kingdom into a full day experience by expanding hours and ride options. (Done as of 2017)

2. Turn Hollywood Studios into something amazing. (Yet to happen)

3. Replace pretty much every ride in Future World at Epcot with something new. (Maybe)

4. Fix and update many of the resorts to higher standers. When a new theme park is built more resorts will be built hands down. Fix the ones we have first. Luckily they appear to be raising the bar with resorts by making the deluxe more deluxe and adding more offerings to all of the resorts.

5. Then do whatever needs to be done to add a fifth park. My opinion is to take a bunch of magical cranes, lift DisneySea from its foundation, bring it to Florida, and then drop it. Then they just built the parking lot.

HS could be pretty incredible with minimal effort (relatively speaking, of course!). Star Wars has no restrictions on its usage, as far as I know, so add a couple of rides there, along with the cantina, and you've increased attendance immediately. Add the Monsters, Inc., door coaster that has been rumored forever, a Tron lightcycle coaster or simulator, and some then a couple of rides that could/should eventually be overlaid with Marvel characters -- e.g., a coaster like other parks have, on which you are "flying" headfirst and face down (could easily become an Iron Man-themed ride at some point way down the line when they get all of that figured out...hopefully, they will!). I fully understand the limitations on the use of Marvel right now at WDW, but I don't think anybody truly believes that they can't get that fixed at some point...or at a minimum, figure out a way to limit Universal's use of Marvel to its existing characters that are utilized and let Disney create some attractions using other characters (e.g., Captain America, Thor, Iron-Man....and just let Universal keep Spidey, Hulk and Dr. Doom for a while).

DHS is at least my second favorite park as it currently sits. A little effort, and it would rise to the top pretty easily.

Thanks for all the comments and ideas everyone!! To be honest with you the only attraction that I hope doesn't close at DHS is the great movie ride! I believe it's the spirit of DHS and it wouldn't seem right without it. I recently heard rumors of it closing and I hope that's not true.
