Just watching my local TV station and they put there little teaser on that said new expansion @ disney. Any Ideas what it might be???? Move DVC or what

The city of Anaheim has given Walt Disney Co. approval to submit applications to build a third theme park.

...but if this is something thus far unannounced, the most logical actual "expansion" would be the Sports themed water park.

Unless they've come up with a pay-for-play, high-end "mini-gate" in the Discovery Cove mold.

The tagline "new expansion at Disney" sounds very misleading if they are talking about operations out west. In Central Florida, if you are talking about "Disney", you are usually referring to Walt Disney World. This news station should have understood that there are many people who can't even get Disney World and Disneyland straight. When I first read the subject of this thread, I assumed it was Walt Disney World they were talking about right away.

Man, I wish people would just say WALT DISNEY WORLD! It's not that hard to do!

The original post came last Thursday, with a few comments and guesses. But did anyone actually see the news report the first post was referring to? I suspect it was nothing major - I haven't seen anything major on Laughing Place news since then. Still - I am curious.

I have a hunch that is getting stronger each week that Beastly Kingdom will be announced before the end of October. The other thread on a possible 5th gate makes me even more hopefull.

I didn't see the story, but I did see a promo for another station's report on the same thing. The story was about DCL. The teaser I heard was "More Disney MAGIC is headed for Central FL..." over shots of Mickey and Minnie at the welcome party for the Wonder. There's either a new ship in the works, or a new route for one of the existing ships (the local morons.. I mean media.. went nutso when Atlantis@ Paradise Island was added to the 7 day package.) It's probably a new route or package, because a new ship would bring local news taglines like "Disney commissions a new cruise ship. Could YOU be next?!!??" There has been alot of talk lately about the local stations loosing ratings. The ratings are dropping because the "news" is getting more and more sensational, and the stations seem to think that the only way to attract viewers is to be more sensational. I'm waiting for the day that I burn my hand on the oven rack and WFTV Channel 9 runs a story "Local man injured in his own home! What could Disney have done to prevent it? Could YOU be next!??!!"
But I digress... I didn't see the story.

Well, Disney considers the Magic Carpets of Aladdin the "Adventureland Expansion", and Eisner called DinoRama a *major* addition to the AK, so I wouldn't hold my breath... they are probably just installing a new water fountain or something...

Don't know if this was a just a tease last week but they are reporting today on the DVC board that Disney has announced it is building a new Disney Vacation Club resort along the Eagle Pines Golf course (Bonnet Creek Clubhouse area near FW where Osprey Ridge course is also). It will have a hotel like Inn and then many separate buildings with the villas; 600 units in all with first phase due to open sometime in 2004.

GASP!! Safari Steve! How COULD you??? I work for those morons...I mean media! I am a television news videographer/editor/live truck operator/news helicopter videographer. I am the one responsible for getting footage of all the big news and putting it on the screen...and while YES I agree management at nearly every media outlet is seriously deficient in the brain department, don't take it out on the parrots (my affectionate term for reporters and anchor who are handed scripts to recite).

Yeah sensationalism sells. Ever hear the new station motto? "If it bleeds it leads". Sad huh? Understand that the ONLY thing going on in the ENTIRE state of Florida worthy of any screen time is the goings on at Disney. My station is in the NYC metro area. We have much more to work with...the Florida stations have to work with what they got...\

If it wasn't for the fact that I get comp tix to WDW and USF/IOA I'd quit this lousy biz in a new york minute.
