What is the aversion to building something new? I know, it's $.

But yay, another track for a video game ride.
Not saying it's not fun, but something new would be better especially at DHS.

Totally agree that something new would be great. But if another track helps ease the line / FP+ / capacity issue for that attraction, I'm all for that too.

Don't get why there would be any problem with expanding this ride. It's very popular and in high demand. Increased capacity can only help it. they could build a new ride in this space but it might not be something that would take a lot of traffic away from TSM, so I don't have a problem with expansion on TSM. Even if they are just doing it because it's cheaper to expand capacity on an already popular attraction than it would be to build a new attraction.

I expect this is part of a broader expansion in the area and shouldn't be viewed as an either/or situation. I think that big things are coming to that part of DHS.

Agreed.

If they dropped American Idol and the Backlot tour and replaced it with just an extra TSMM track, that would be disappointing. But I'm pretty sure more is coming (though probably not for several years).

I just posted to get peoples opinions. I don't mind if they are expanding TSMM is my favorite ride in all of disney but id just rather have something new. HS needs a major overhaul and they are obviously closing down rides for a reason but for me id rather them focus on new things then taking time expanding a ride thats already there

Agreed, if it is either/or, but I think they will be doing both (at least at DHS).

New things are coming, just don't expect them quickly. Expanding an existing attraction may also be something they can do more quickly.

I hope you're right, but I don't think anything big is coming. If something big was coming, they would have announced it already. Look how far ahead they announced Avatar.

Great point. It certainly couldn't be something as huge rotfl2 as New Fantasy Land, right? Because they trumpeted that one for years......

I don't think SW is headed for that particular portion of the park, but we will see. I am optimistic SW is coming, just not there.

I'm thinking this is going to be more along the lines Storybook Circus than even NFL.

Rumors abound, one of them is for Pixar-themed rides geared to younger children, to address complaints that there is not enough at DHS for young children to do.

I think there are two things that point to this being maybe some new carnival rides/stores/meet-and-greets...

1. The alleged third track on TSMM. If they were going to build a whole new "big" ride, why would they be adding a third track onto TSMM?

2. The fact that they haven't been talking about this for five years.

As with everything at Disney, I think it's better not to get excited until you see it.

Sound stage 1 has been deemed a construction zone to cast members. Wdwmagic and orlando theme parks news have reported this. They moved the frozen from the sound stage so obviously there was a reason for that. It is also to be said that the supposed test of FP only for TSMM is a test for the third track that is supposed to be FP only. The third track is also not going to take then entire sound stage building. The FP only test is going to determine whether a third theater for soarin happens.
