We were there on NYE and of course the crowds were big for the countdown. We didn't stick around that much longer even though the park closed at 2 AM, but there were a lot of people on Main Street and we were allowed to enter through a employee corridor on the side to bypass the crowds. It was a little bit different. Nothing that really stood out as unusual, but I noticed that they had a lot of posters for assorted rides, and of course some storage areas.

They do this a lot when it is very crowded or even during the parade as Main Street becomes sort of impossible to walk down. DL has space issues like that. It is surprising though as some of the stuff that you can see back there - usually I wouldn't think guests should be seeing that.

They do that during parades. There’s another one on the other side of Main Street too

Very common when we go there in the summer. I always check to see whether the bypass is open when we are leaving at a crowded time. On one side you can see parked jungle cruise boats.

We got to go through it last year in August during the Electrical Parade. I thought it was kinda neat seeing all the posters. Also compared to main street it was so quiet walking through the passage.

That’s actually an intentional guest bypass area, which is why it has posters and stuff now. Obviously very lightly themed and still mostly used for CMs and storage, but it was spruced up and blocked off to make it a guest bypass area - several years ago?

For me, that's one of the highlights of going when it's packed. It's really cool seeing all the stuff that's back there. Even just seeing the jungle cruise boats parked is pretty awesome.

The other tunnel doing the other direction is a lot more dressed up, but yeah...we alway look for those being open on busy days when we want a quick exit.

That was my fav part of the Run Disney experience!

Oh yes, that reminds me... last trip I wanted to use one of them to get back to the turnstiles quickly during the parade... but the CM guarding the entrance didn’t let me through because it was „one way only“... I didn’t argue it but was a little completely pointless because there were hardly any people using it and the parade was just coming in so I couldn’t change to the other passage... I had to maneuver through the stores because the regular walkway on mainstreet was packed and very slow moving with strollers...
Needles to say I was a little annoyed by that...

Apart from that minor inconvenience those passage a great during parade and fireworks I used them a lot on our last summer trip a year ago...

We exited this way on December 14 during the afternoon parade. It was cool! We’ve also done this at Magic Kingdom during Halloween and Christmas.

I've heard about the underground service tunnels there.

If you enter for the MNNSHP and I believe the MVMCP at MK they have you use the Main St Bypass. During the MNSSHP you get a bag and your first trick or treat candy there. They also will use it during high crowd exit times to get people out faster.

We used the exit back in August. I noticed people walking down so we followed. Saw some of the backstage area/boats for the Jungle Cruise.

Most people we oblivious and walked right by the stairway you see on the side of the Firehouse is for the entrance to Walt's Apartment. We did the Walk In Walt's Footsteps tour the year before so we knew what to look for.

The one on the East side of Main St, takes you towards the Castle, the one on the West side takes you towards the exit. Both are one way. The one going towards the castle is usually open during parades, the one towards the exit is usually open during and after fireworks. We use them all the time.

I love the crowd corridors! Definitely been around several years now after they finished sprucing them up for guests to be able to use them (a quick search shows work began around May 2014 and they opened Fall 2014).

Makes life far less stressful for me when they're open and I have to get down/up Main Street.

It is definitely also helpful to remember which side goes which direction so one isn't caught on the incorrect side from the direction they want to go and can't easily cross to the other corridor. They are always one way and always the same direction. I'm pleased by that as I don't have to deal with any groups walking towards me that won't stay to the right/walk several people across.

these bypasses are open daily during the parade and around the fireworks when there are fireworks. Have been for a couple of years now.
