Exit row seats?

BTW, Don't you have to open the door and then pull a ripcord to inflate the slide? How could an ejected door damage the slide if the slide was still in the canister?

There is no slide on the over-wing exit. You are supposed to slide down the trailing edge of the wing.

I flew P-3 aircraft in the Navy. These planes have removable exit doors over each wing. Our training was, in the event of an emergency evacuation, remove the exit door and throw it outside through the opening that you have just made. Leaving the door inside the aircraft means that it becomes an obstacle for others trying to exit. This would especially be a problem in the dark or in the event of a water landing, when water flooding into the aircraft would float the loose door off the seats or cabin floor. As a previous poster said, there are no inflatable evacuation slides for the overwing exits on commercial aircraft. Evacuating passengers need to slide down the trailing edge of the wing.
