Exfoliating face product?

Yes, the St Ives apricot is way too sharp & cutting. They don't
t grind the pits down enough or uniformly to be used on the face.

I prefer Queen Helene's brand of scrubs:

Queen Helene Refreshing Mint Julep Facial Scrub:

Or Queen Helene Gentle Oatmeal 'n Honey Natural Facial Scrub:

As for how many times to use an exfoliant, it depends on your skin. On really oily skin, you might use one every day or every other day. But, it has to be meant for oily/acne skin.

Dry skin, maybe a couple times a week to sluff off the dead skin cells. I prefer a microderm abrasion scrub for this. The particles are really fine, like sugar (but without attracting ants. :p) But, I don't see a lot of microderm abrasion products out anymore without using a dedicated brush.

St. Ives has a gentler version of their apricot scrub that I like.
Anything that contains microplastic beads is terrible for the aquatic environment and companies are starting to phase out their use. Unilever in particular has stated they will discontinue these products this year. So anything that is more natural is the way to go!

Chemical exfoliation (AHA etc) > mechanical scrubs.

If I really feel like I have enough dead skin to warrant an actual scrub, I use a little bit of baking soda mixed in with cetaphil cleanser. But I'm of a certain age and taking care of my skin is a priority.

I love the St. Ives and use it twice a week but agree with other posters it is pretty harsh, i would make sure you don't have any sensitivity or conditions that it would aggravate. Have also used a microderm cream from Estee Lauder that I liked as well but for a cheap "glow" love the St. Ides, especially in the spring and summer.

I use a good'ole washcloth, works like a charm. I have been using the same skin care products for over 20yrs. Dove soap on my face and the basic Oil of Olay face lotion. I am always complimented on my skin.
