Is it worth it to work out? This is the first vacation I am taking when I am accostomed to working out 6 times a week so I don't know how I'll feel. Is just walking around enough? Keep in mind I will be going in July when it will be rather hot out. :sunny: Are the jogging paths around the various hotels nice? Any suggestions would be useful. Thanks!

Walking may be enough, but I think that would depend on your level of working out that you do at home. You can always go to the hotel fitness center (workout in AC :D )

If you are staying at the Swan, you can jog the loop from the Swan, Dolphin, over to the YC/BC, Epcot, BW, Disney Studios and back to the Swan. There is also an outer loop. We do it when we stay at the BCV.

I usually jog and ab crunch 7 days a week and walk 5 days, however when Im on vacation, thats what Im on vacation from...along with my diet, LOL! I do find I put on a few too many lbs, and when I get back to my routine I am a little sore at first. But, I usually lose the weight and my muscles get used to it again pretty soon.

So, for me, no the walking is not enough to stay in shape when Im used to working out daily, but it is a nice vacation. ;)

You didnt say where you were staying, which resort ,some of the resorts offer a place to exercise and a lot of them have jogging paths and i think that if you want to pay extra you can work out anywhere on disney property as long as you are a WDW guest at one of the resorts. :earsgirl:

I also am worried about this. Has anyone used the fitness center at AKL? I was planning on paying for a length of stay use pass. I understand that there isn't really anywhere to run at AKL. Am I right?

Walking is not enough for me because my heart rate just can't get high enough. At home I run and bike and I like to keep up my routine wherever we're vacationing. I used the fitness center at WL last May and thought it was good. The length of stay pass was a good deal at $25.

If you stay at the Swan you can use the fitness center at the Dolphin. We didn't use it during our first Dolphin stay, but I'm planning on using it in June. I'll let you know how it was when I get back. I just plan on using the weight machines because I'll be getting plenty of walking in at the parks!

Actually this isn't quite the case. ANYONE can pay a fee to use the GF Spa Health Club. However, the other WDW Resort health clubs are for the exclusive use of that resort's guests.

You are correct--there is no suitable running path at the AKL. They do offer a length of stay pass for the health club, sorry, I'm not sure of the cost.

Have a great trip!
