Hello! I want to drop about 10 pounds this summer and do some major toning and I'm thinking about buying one of these exercise programs. Has anyone ever used either one? Thanks!

I really like The Firm's Total Body Toner. It is one of my favorites right now.

I also highly recommend Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred. It is tough but you will definitely see results!

not sure about the Firm, but I have done the Si6 (dropped about 30 lbs in the 6 weeks). Basically, what you'll get it 3 workouts: a starting routine (about 20 minutes long), which you'll do for a week (of course, that will depend on your level of fitness already... you might find you only need to do it a couple days before moving on).

the next workout is an intermediate one (about 40 minutes long); and the last workout is the advanced one (about 60 minutes long). Each one basically has the same moves (with some new ones tossed in here and there with each step up), but the speed and intensity ramps up as you go from the 20 min, to 40 min, to 60 min program.

all 3 are a mix of cardio/aerobics moves and resistance training (so you'll need some resistance bands or weights).

It's definately a great program for a quick way to tone up/lose weight in a short amount of time. If you plan on continuing with a workout program, you might find it a little repetative after awhile. THe company who sells it (beachbody.com) has a lot of other workouts as well (I've done Si6, and currently use the P90X program); so you can always check out the site there and see what's offered, and what people have to say about them.

I love The Firm and have been using it for the past five years. It never gets boring and it gives me great results.

I ordered Slimin6 and just started it about 5 days ago. The first two days I had trouble going up and down the stairs I was soooo sore.

I have tried the Firm workouts before but I found I'm just not that coordinated, lol. If you were a cheerleader in your former life, or a dancer, you should pick it up easily.

For fun, I also really like Turbo Jam.

DW is using The Firm, has dropped about 20 lbs over 6-7 months. Hasn't done anything in a couple of weeks (business travel), but sticks to the diet, and hasn't put anything back.

I am the only one I know that Slim in 6 did nothing for. Probably because my knees are bad so I was not lunging as far or squating as far as I should have been. I was being careful. I made it to the 2nd level and thought I was going to die. I'm not THAT out of shape. I did like the stretching though.

DFi has the P90whatever dvds and they look interesting...I might try them

I had to chuckle at this because this is me too. I can never keep up with these people. When they go left, I am going right. I always seem to be two steps behind them!

I have the slim in 6, with regular use, changing my diet, and eliminating soda I've dropped 6 sizes.

I have two different versions of the Firm, the latest from 2004. I never used the last one I bought! I also felt that I could not keep up with them.

I have thought about the Si6. I might have to try that. I wonder if you can find it in any stores. I have four weeks before a trip to Aruba with DH's company ... I'd love to drop even five lbs by then but I can't seem to do it myself. I even belong to a gym less than .5 mile away and haven't been in a month.

Thanks everyone for your input. I'm even more confused than ever, because this morning I saw an infomercial for Mitch Gaylord's Melt Away or something like that. He uses a 2 pound ball and it's all about the core. Ugh! I just need to figure out what I'll like and will stick with! :goodvibes

I belong to several fitness forums. Here are my faves: www.videofitness.com and Firm Belivers/ Firm Ya Yas (you'll need to google it because for some reason it is being blocked here).

I have read countless of posts that members have said that Slim in 6 is beginners to intermediate and folks gets tired of using it. The Firm has been around for ages and they range from beginners to advanced and they have consistently given great results.

Of course, you can always do a rotation where you change your routine every few weeks or so. Please feel free to check out those websites because there are reviews, great people, and suggested rotations, too.

I love the Firm....I have used it for 6 years and I have never gotten better results from anything else! I have used Debbie Siebers (Slim In 6) videos before, but it was other ones that were more advanced than the Slim in 6 ones.....and I just wasn't as hooked by them as the Firm. I think because they were really long....about 70 mins. for one of them! Anyhow, the Firm has never let me down!

Thanks Jen. Do you recommend one of the firm series over another? Don't some have a step and the newer ones geared more toward dance moves? Thanks for your input!

Thanks GL! I can't wait to check it out!

I have the original informercial videos....Body Sculpt, Cardio Sculpt and Ab Sculpt. They use the Fanny Lifter step. I also have several others that I enjoy.....Body Sculpt Blaster, Lower Body Sculpt 1 and 2.....I like the ones that are less "dancy" moves and more muscle building and weights. I think the very newest ones are a lot more aerobic/dancy type of moves. I think it is a lot af trial and error with the Firm to see what ones you like or dislike....which ones will be a lot of choreography, etc. A good website to check out is Collagevideo.com. They have great info and you can view a few minutes of each dvd to see if you'll like it. I have ordered from them quite a few times, and they are great.

I assume you're talking about the regular P90 (power 90) program, which is also a good starting workout series; and not the P90X (definately don't look to jump into that program, especially if Si6 was a challenge)

I believe he (Tony Horton) has a new series out as well called something like '10 minute trainer' or such.... which, as the name implies, are workouts that are 10 minutes long, for those who don't have 60+ minutes a day to workout.... haven't seen them myself, so can't speak for what they involve....
