Excused or Unexcused

My DS is going to miss 2 days next month and I have no idea if it's excused or unexcused. I just wrote a note and hoped for the best. The teacher stopped me on my way home and said that she read the note and would give me the work ahead of time for the 2 days that he's missing, that she doesn't usually do that but due to the circumstances (we won the trip) she'll do it.

My first grader missed a whole week in September for our Disney trip. It was excused. Our principal doesn't seem to mind the family vacations.

In my town in NH they have a form that you fill out and say how long you will be gone ,and when you will be back ,and when you will pick up work for they to do. My middle schooler has boxes on the form that you tell the school why the child will be out . For our trip I checked off family reuion and they set it back with all the days excused as long as he did the work.
We are going in May of 2008 I can not wait my children still do not know.

We are going the last week of April that spills over into May. My kids don't know and it is killing me... I want to share... however that is all I will hear between now and then. So we will wait until April to tell them... a Birthday surprise! I have a friend in NH that won't pull her kids out because the school is so strict... I'm in NH also and they are happy for us! All depends on the school I guess.
