Excuse me, you'll need to see security. What has Mickeystoontown done? Update 3/25x2

At least you got the bandanas ON your heads....sort of.

We went on the Pirates & Pals cruise at WDW and they give out bandanas to wear. My little one was 18 months at the time and I think she was the only one that would have been able to wear one as a head scarf. They are so stinking small or we just have ginormous melons for heads. :lmao:

I'm trying to talk my husband into dressing up for the pirate party, but he's not a big dresser-upper. The most I've been able to get out of him was wearing the Mickey ears from the Germany pavillion at Epcot to the Halloween party at MK. Really....that's all.

I don't know why they don't have larger size bandanas. :confused3 I am sure that the mini ones are cheaper but I thought I was going to pass out from restricted blood flow to the brain. :rotfl:

Well, if the hubby is anything like John....good luck with trying to convince him to dress up.

Happy belated anniversary! Can't wait for the mini-TR.

Love the pirate gear. :rotfl2: I understand having smaller ones for kids, but they should have bigger ones that actually work for the adults too!

Thank you!

That's what we thought....why not have a bigger size available to the adults? They were tight!

I was always excited to come back to the stateroom and find whatever our attendant had left! (Mainly I was excited about the chocolates!)

I'm very relieved to know you had as much trouble as I did in putting those bandanas on your heads!

 I remember taking about 1,000,000 of those pictures! I think our version kept coming out blurry or something!

Fun night!

Us too! The chocoaltes were also a great treat.

For a while, I thought we were the only big headed people on the cruise but then I actually looked at the bandanas and could see how very small they were.

I took tons of pictures and most didn't turn out good at all. What ya'll are seeing here are the best of the worst. ;)

I've been lurking on your trip report and I'm all caught up now. We are going to be staying at CBR in Dec. for the first time. It's nice to hear how much your family likes it.

The ship is beautiful! I don't know if a cruise would be my thing. The way you describe your bus trip in Nassau reminds me of mine and my husband's honeymoon. We went to Jamaica :confused3 We hadn't discovered Disney yet. We went into the market on a bus and it was the scariest thing I ever remember doing. People were just going wherever and however they wanted. I don't remember a bad smell though which is good.

Thanks for sharing your trip and I can't wait to read about the CBR portion! :cool1:

Welcome and thanks for coming out of lurkdome! We absolutely love the CBR! It's so pretty and relaxing. I can't wait until I'm back on the beach and hanging out in the hammock.

I wasn't so sure that cruising was our thing either. While we had a good time, we did find ourselves missing the parks and our lazing around the resort days. If we ever go back, I'll make sure we have plenty of relaxation time at the CBR AND the cruise.

Your bus tour in Jamaica sounds like our Nassau bus tour. It was fast and furious!

You guys are tooo funny!! LOVE the bandanas, maybe they do that on purpose so people can get creative with the ways they wear them!! And you're not a hot mess, no worries there!! Fireworks looked cool, so did the aquaduck all lit up!!!

I hadn't thought about it that way! Those suckers were tight on our heads!

Thanks! I try not to be too self conscious about the fact that Bell's Palsy causes my face and eye to droop but it gets to me sometimes.

The fireworks were very cool and it was neat to see the deck and Aqua Duck all lit up for the party!

Love the update!!!:thumbsup2

Those bandana pictures were too funny!:rotfl: Glad you were able to make them work.;)

So cool to be able to see fireworks on a cruise!!

After much tying and untying, Hunter and I were finally able to get our's on. There was simply no way it would fit on John's head though. Once it was on the hat, he could force it down.

Those bandanas are made for little kids...why don't they make adult sizes?

I am so sad you didn't love the cruise. To me cruising is just as good as WDW and then on a Disney ship...well that even better. I know everyone is different though.

Fireworks at sea is so amazing. And you are right about the whole cell phone thing too. It still amazes me how different things are now compared to when I was a kid.

That's what I said! You know what they reminded me of? Way back when the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie came out, McDonald's had the bandanas in their Happy Meal. The ones they gave us on the cruise was just about the same size.

While we didn't immediately fall in love with the cruise and initially said we wouldn't go on another cruise, there were several highlights that we enjoyed and we would consider booking another one. To us, though, nothing beats being at Walt Disney World!

Isn't it amazing how much technology has changed since we were young? I can remember even when John and I were dating that I'd drag the phone (on a cord) down the hall and in the bathroom so I could talk in private. My oh my how things have changed.

Hey there - just dropping in. I had read the beginning of your TR some time ago, and must not have subbed. I'm all caught up, thanks to the handy links!!

Just for the record - I'm a fan of escargot, but only get them on the cruise too! I don't usually go anywhere that they're served around here and can't afford them anyway!

So Happy Belated Birthday to Hunter (was it 5/24? - that's my DH's too)
and Happy Anniversary to you and John!

Howdy! I can't imagine going somewhere and paying for escargot. (Not that we weren't paying for it on the cruise but I think you know what I mean. :rotfl:) While they weren't bad, they aren't on my top ten list of things that I just love to eat.

Thank you for the birthday and anniversary wishes! Yes, Hunter's birthday is 5/24.

I love the pictures in the porthole! The view is gorgeous.

Dinner at Royal Palace looks really good. I tried escargot once, I didn't love it but it wasn't awful. I love the carriage bread basket! I think I need one...:rotfl2:

Those pics with the bandanas are too funny. The fireworks shots are great! Pirate Night seems like a lot of fun.

I can't imagine booking any other category of stateroom unless it was a verandah room. The view was amazing and I sat there watching the world go by many many times.

I would have loved to have snuck the bread basket into my purse. It was so cute!

We had a wonderful time at the Pirate Party! It was definitely a highlight of the cruise!

That looks like a lot of fun!! Those bandanas though… :rotfl2:

The bandanas were so hard to get on but we had so much fun trying.

Oh my, Lisa, you have me peeing in my pants twice today. :lmao::lmao::lmao: I just love the bandana escapade...priceless.

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: for a DIS meet and on the ship too!

We laughed so very hard trying to put those teeny tiny bandanas on our heads. It was so funny to us!

I couldn't believe that we saw Bridora and her family so many times on the ship. I mean, what are the odds of that?

Y'alls night looks like it was starting to be fun. I hope it turns out to be a good one.

I'd never be able to convince my hubby to do anything like the party, I think it's cute how your men will go along with whatever you plan for them. :goodvibes

I don't think you looked like a hot mess at all. I think you look cute. ::yes::
At least you ran into someone you knew at the party.

When you were going through your list of remarkable inventions it reminded me of a list I read once of similar things, but from our grandparents persepective.

If you think about all that our grandparents have seen that's been invented....WOW! :faint:
Just think, the fact that we could have computers sitting in our laps (computers use to take up the space of huge rooms<mainframes>) and be able to talk to other people through a camera (skype) on it is flippin amazing in and of it's self!!
Just think how short a time it's been when Space Ship Earth's futuristic things were put out there, and that was just in the 80's! Pretty cool when you think about it.

Hunter will pretty much go along with anything I suggest. He's game! John, on the other hand, has to be coaxed just a little. He doesn't like to be the center of attention much since he's a preacher's kid and he said he lived his younger years under the microscope of others. But, it doesn't make too much coaxing to get him to loosen up.

Isn't it amazing how things have changed since our grandparents were born! I find it amazing how much things have changed just since I was born. You know just 29 years ago. :rotfl: Seriously, technology is something else!

Hi,
Okay just caught up. Too much to mention but the excursion looked like so much fun especially the underwater part.

Shame getting caught with illegal product onboard. That whole story cracked me up.

MMMM, escargot. I love it but not with a mushroom taste. YUCK!!!

The restaurants look really nice.

Poopy smell begone. Yuck!

Great report so far. Love the pics.

Welcome! I'm glad to have you come along on our adventure!

I think you can tell that we are a pretty fun loving, goofy acting family. Can you believe that I have a criminal record even though I look so innocent? :p

The poopy smell wasn't overwhelming but it was definitely in the air.

Edited: Oops! I just replied to April's post that I replied to earlier. I guess I was happy to "see" April. LOL!

Hey Lisa just wanted to tell you that I am all caught up on your report and lovin it!! :thumbsup2 Oh and Happy Anniversary!!! My husband and I just celebrated our number 12 on August 12 so yay for weddings in August!!

Oh wow I have been behind on your report. But I'm caught up now ! Loved the pictures John took of you posing in the porthole :rotfl: Hunter was looking at you like what is she doing ? :rotfl:

Had to go out of town for work last week so I'm playing a little catch up. Belated happy anniversary to you and John! Can't wait to read about your trip to Hot Springs. I love the bonus trip reports in your trip report!:thumbsup2 Those pirate bandanas are a hoot. You all do make a roudy looking bunch in your "pirate pic". Love it!pirate: I'm a fireworks girl so I can only imagine how cool it would be to see them over the ocean. I agree with you about missing WDW though. I don't think a cruise could take the place of the parks for me.

Thanks for the anniversary wishes! I just uploaded half of the Hot Springs pictures and am looking for my other memory card so I can upload the water park pictures.

The fireworks over the ocean were super cool! I love watching fireworks from any place too.

I did find myself missing WDW many times during the cruise but at least I knew that we were headed there afterwards.

The fireworks at sea are amazing. My kids were amazed.

They certainly were amazing!

Hey there! :wave2: Happy belated anniversary to you guys too! It does seem that were a lot of weddings happening in August. I know that I have at least two or three readers with August anniversaries and my daughter and her husband celebrated their first wedding anniversary yesterday!

Oh wow I have been behind on your report. But I'm caught up now ! Loved the pictures John took of you posing in the porthole :rotfl: Hunter was looking at you like what is she doing ? :rotfl:

Hunter did have that look on his face didn't he. :rotfl: I have no idea why he was surprised.....I'm always doing something silly.;)

The McBride's make great PIRATES! AARRRGGGHH!! ;)

Of course, I was the leader since I tried to stow away an iron! pirate:

Morning! Sorry I haven't been around in a couple of days. As always, it's been busy at the office and at home.

Hunter had his first official half day of school yesterday and was talking a mile a minute when I picked him up. He was a tad bit nervous about going simply because the school is soooooo big and they warned the Freshmans that they may get to their classes and know absolutely no one. Surprisingly, even though they have 630+ Freshman this year, Hunter had friends in each and every one of his classes.

They didn't have school today but he will start full days tomorrow. I'm hoping that the excitement of a new school year doesn't wear off too soon and we start the whole "did you REALLY do you homework" spiel sooner rather than later. :sad2:

John went to the doctor yesterday for a check-up and to find out what they are going to do about his medicine. He's losing an average of three hours a week off work due to lots of facial twitching and partial seizures in the mornings. Some days, he can't go in until Noon and then he'll go for a week and have no problems at all. I'm thinking that they need to adjust his nightly meds because, obviously, the dose that he's taking isn't getting him through the night. They drew blood yesterday and are supposed to call me when they get the results and we'll go from there. September will mark the 20th year that we've been dealing with this darn epilepsy. I know that we have it a lot better than some epilepsy patients. At least John's seizures are mostly controlled and he hasn't had a grand mal seizure since Hunter was born. Praise be to God!

Mama is at the eye doctor now. They are doing an evalation and will be scheduling her catarac surgery and then an eye lift on both eyes. The drooping eyelids are hampering her vision so they suggested the eye lifts. I am waiting on her to call me and let me know what they said and when the surgeries are.

Hum.....any good news to share? Oh yeah, Lacey and Jesse celebrated their first wedding anniversary yesterday! They are following along in their mother and father's footsteps and did the romantic road trip. :rotfl: They spent time visiting with some of their fellow Master's Commission students, their Mission parents and the Mission leader and pastor in Georgia. They then went on to Helen, Georgia and spent the day there at the hotel where they stayed on their honeymoon. I talked with them this morning and they are going to head back to Tennessee later this evening because they both have to work tomorrow.

Oh well, I need to see if all of my Arkansas pictures have uploaded to Photobucket. I wanted to write a mini-trip report for our Arkansas trip and then write another installment on our Disney trip. I need to get a move on because my boss will be back from court soon. Be back in a bit with an Arkansas trip report installment.

School started around here yeaterday & we've gotten so slow (I work at a science center) I have time to check up on the DIS! Good luck to your new freshman!

Keeping both John and your mom in my thoughts for the best. It's amazing that he hasn't had a grand mal seziure for 15 years! Hallelujah for modern medicine.

I'm looking forward to your TR about Arkansas because I've never even been near it.

Sorry to hear of your husband's health issues. Hopefully his medication can be adjusted for better results. I hope your mom's surgery goes well.

School starts here in 2 weeks. I'm not ready! It will be my first time with an empty house, DS starts kindergarten & DD is in pre-school.

Happy Anniversary to your daughter & son in law!

I hope they can get John's meds worked out. And I hope everything goes well for your mama. I'll be thinking about & praying for you guys!

Hope Hunter enjoys his school year! Our kids started school yesterday. It was a move up to Jr High for Allison - lockers, switching for every class, and a bigger school, but I think it went pretty well for her. Luke's still at the same school, but he'll be switching classes once in the afternoons. They do grow up fast, don't they?

Can't wait to hear about your Hot Springs trip!

My mom had the eye lift done a few years ago. At first she was really wide-eyed and I was a bit worried but after a few weeks she looked better. Her drooping eyelids (well actually between the eyelid and the eyebrow, which made the eyelids droop) were causing her vision trouble. She has no problems seeing now.

I'm sorry to hear your husband has epilepsy (fairly new to following you so I didn't know about this). I'm glad though that it has been controlled so well and I hope that they are able to get things adjusted for him.

Happy Anniversary to Jesse and Lacey...ca't believe it has beeen a year...I can still picture all your photos of that beautiful day. I hope they can straighten out John's med and that you Mama has her surgery and can go back to Disney with you.

I know! The year sure did fly by fast!

That's what they told Mama...the eyelids were interferring with her vision. I'll be sure to tell her how well your Mama did.

Epilepsy sucks! I'm just thankful that John is relatively seizure free compared to others that I know.

I hope they can get John's meds worked out. And I hope everything goes well for your mama. I'll be thinking about & praying for you guys!

I too hope that they get the meds straightened out soon!

I'm telling you...kids grow up way too fast! It seems like just yesterday that they were babies. I'm sure that you'll adjust to the kids going to school and you being alone. Just imagine all the things you can get accomplished.;)

Hallelujah indeed! We'll take the facial twitches and missed work over grand mal seizures any day!

I'm about to post an Arkansas trip report now!
