Excursions outside of Disney

Does anyone have a favorite non Disney Excursion?

We will be on the Eastern Cruise and would like to go on our own to a nice beach. Our kids are 10 and 11. I hate to pay alot of money on an excursion when all we went to do is hang around a nice beach and play in the water.

Are the taxis readily available when you step off the ship?

On our cruise in May we rented a car in St. Maarten, drove around the island visiting some sights, and then went to Orient Bay.

The beach there was beautiful and very relaxing. I would think that you would find it very easy to find a taxi not far from the cruise terminal to take you to any beach you wanted. I wouldn't think you would spend more than $10 to $20 or so.
