It's the three night cruise, my family agrees. Now, I must decide if we will do the excursions advertised or just give it a go w/out a tour.

Do most pay for the excursions? Can you see a lot on your own? Whats the best way to research this.

Depends on what you want to see.

We did the three hour Nassau historic city tour and it was great..we left right when we docked..it took us to all the famous places, let us out to look around and then brought us back to dock area. This was getting to be lunch time..we asked cab driver for a restaurant recommendation. He suggested Conch Fritters..nice place, great food, relaxing. We spent time at straw market, Senor Frogs, found Hard Rock Cafe, walked up and down the shopping streets a bit, had Lumpia at the philipino restaurant right to the left of the straw market, it was a great day..we had a blast.

Well, part of it will depend on the age of the family. If you have little ones (under 4-5) , they won't be able to go on some.

It will also depends on what you're looking for. Do you want to snorkel, sightsee or maybe play at a beach.

We went to the blue lagoon on our 1st trip. It was very nice with some snorkeling and also a shallow inlet for a very peaceful day. There is a 45 min boat ride out. It was worth booking it through DCL rather than on our own.

Last year, we did the catamaran sail and snorkel. No beach, but the snorkeling was great. Again, worth doing it through DCL.

Could you do these on your own? I'm sure you can and there is alot you can do on your own. I like the convenience of DCL.

Just going into the Straw market is an adventure in itself. LOL

thanks for the posts. Going to look into the Blue Lagoon and straw island. Maybe try snorkling at Disney's island. thanks.
