Can't wait for our July '05 cruise. Does anyone have high recommendations for exursions? Would you have been comfortable catching a cab or stick with the Disney provided exursions (kinda pricey for a family of seven)?

I am particularly interested in the Paradise Village. Snorkeling in Cabo at Chileno Bay. Anyone seen the rain forest? Was it a real rainforest (lush, canopy layers, tree frogs, monkeys, flowers etc)?

Thanks!

i'd like to know also! we go in a month! can't wait!! we have paradise beach resort booked (i think that's the one you are referring to?) :flower:

I'd like to know if anyone has done the Horseback Riding on the beach in Cabo DCL Excursion?

we just got back. The first two stops, I would recommend doing the excursions....which ever ones you want...we really enjoyed the zip lines through the trees....on the Cabo stop, I would not do the excursion, I would just get off the boat...take a water taxi to the beach (it is worth the couple of bucks) and then do para sailing and jet skiing...that looked like the most fun...we did a snorkeling adventure...it was not very good....and the water was freezing...

Calif Disney, what snorkeling adventure did you do ? We have Chileno Bay booked, but I am having 2nd thoughts. I hear the boat ride is great, but the snorkeling, not so great. I would love more details from you!

Cabo is NOT known for good snorkelling. The water is colder there than other ports and not great visibility. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news...

It's only bad news if I've paid for and can't cancel the excursion! Thank you for the information.... I really appreciate your input!

I read that the Rainforest is not tropical. The people that went on that excursion said it was dry and more brown! You might might that info on one of the trip reports. I don't remember where I read it.

We did the Paradise Village in Puerto Vallarta excursion. The beach was wonderful, the pool was fun (it's a Mayan ruin and the water slide comes out the snakes mouth), and they also had a playground, beach volleyball, and bogie boards.
There was a complimentary drink upon arrival, but it looked liked they had been sitting out in the sun on a big table for awhile, so we didn't bother.

I don't have the individual pictures uploaded to show you, but here's two scrapbook pages I've done with the photos. The beach was our favorite part - it was GREAT!

Thanks for the review and the pictures. It looks really nice. That is the excursion we have planned in P.V. and I was wondering if you did the morning or afternoon departure. We are signed up for the afternoon departure, but I am a little worried it might be too hot and crowded by the time we arrive. What was your experience like?

My DD2 takes an afternoon nap so we did the morning excursion and found the temperature to be perfect. It wasn't too cold, it was quite warm actually, the ocean felt terrific as did the pool. It would probably be hot in the afternoon excursion, but the ocean and pool will still feel wonderful. Also, if you look in one of my pictures they have lots of loungers and grass umbrellas on the beach for shade. I loved the little kid sized beach chairs. The only thing we regretted was not getting some boogie boards right away - the waves were great!

were there kayaks? i'm glad to hear that your family enjoyed this. we are also booked for this, in the morning, for the same exact reason as you! am really looking forward to it. did your DD2 go down the waterslide? can adults go down w/them?

btw, nice layout! :flower:

We did non-Disney excursions (Canopy Tour & Randi's Happy Horses) but DH's cousins went on the Chileno Snorkeling trip. They said that it was the best excursion of their trip (they also did the Mazatlan Family Ranch Fiesta) but said that the water was cold & the snorkeling time was limited.

MousseauMob: After looking at your digital scrapbook pages, I decided to go digital (I've been scrapbooking since 1997 but haven't been scrapping for the past 3 years). I've just started on our Mexican Riviera trip and I've got so much more to do.

WE did the PAradise Beach afternoon excursion last week. It was great! My kids loved the pool! The beach was beautiful but soon after we got settled in, there were two kids near us that got stung by jelly fish so we moved to the pool. It was a nice afternoon. We chose afternoon because we didn't want to have to be up and out at 7:40!

In MAzatlan we went with Mazatan Frank. I can't post links but there is a thread in this board devoted to his tours. It was the best thing we did and much cheaper than Disney. I highly resommned him. My biys (9 & 12) loved it and they were very much against the whole idea of a "tour" prior to going.

In Cabo we did our own thing. We took a water taxi to the beach and hung out for the afternoon. There is not much beach area that is suitable for swimming, but my boys had fun. There is no way I would jet ski there as it is way too crowded and IMO, an accident waiting to happen. I saw several people driving way too recklessly for such a crowded area. If I had it to do over again, I would have probably just gone into town, shopped and had lucnh then gone back on board to swim.

This is really great news as we are also doing the excursion to Paradise Beach and touring with Frank. I am so happy to hear that your boys had a great time on Frank's tour. My DS is 11 and my DD is 5 so I am glad to know that they will have a good time. We are doing his City and Beach tour along with another family I met on the DIS board. I feel fortunate that he was available for the day we are in town.

It sounds like you had a great trip. Thanks for sharing your experience!
