Excursion suggestions - Western

I'm not a big cruise fan - 100% park person - but I live on Grand Cayman, so please allow me to give the locals perspective. A private/semi private boat charter is worth the cost. You can visit Stingray City ahead of/after the crowds, go to the best snorkeling spots, see starfish at Starfish Point, stop for drinks or lunch at Rum Point or Kaibo, the locally loved yacht/beach club. Yes our beaches are pretty but you won't find water that is clearer or more beautiful anywhere in the Caribbean. There are lots of great Caymanian operators you can book directly; anyone who is a member of the tourism association (cita.ky) is a good bet. You'll probably know the DCL ships tend to have a longer call time in Cayman than the other cruise lines so you won't be rushed. We can't wait to welcome DCL ships back!

Im GC the Catamaran snorkel adventure was incredible. It had 2 stops, one at a sunken ship and then a reef. The reef was amazing. Years ago we did a dolphin push pull swim in Cozumel and 2019 we stopped in Jamaica and stayed on the ship and explored the port area.

Previously we did the Turtle Farm excursion that DCL used to offer and our kids absolutely loved it. Cayman Turtle Centre - Explore the Best Grand Cayman Excursions
If you go there now, you have to arrange your own transportation as it is no longer a DCL excursion.

I remember doing the Turtle Farm excursion in Grand Cayman almost 20 years ago on a RCL cruise! I would love to take my kids there in 2022.

I was looking at Rum Point. So you do recommend that one? We want to do one sightseeing experience activity day and one relaxation beach day. I thought Rum Point would be a great option as it looked like there were plenty of trees (hubby is not friends with an abundance of sun). I was also thinking maybe the Secret River in Cozumel??

We also really enjoyed Rum Point. Plenty of opportunity for shade. I am just this shade of casper the ghost, so I also appreciate shade. I've attached a snap from our day to give you some idea of the shade situation.

One note on the benefit of booking though DCL. Our catamaran ride back from Rum Point was delayed by almost an hour. The Wonder was very patiently waiting for us.

Currently looking for a new excursion since Royal Palms is closed. Not gonna lie, this looks pretty nice!

With teens we did the combo bobsled and zip line excursion in Jamaica. We all enjoyed it!
At Cozumel we usually go to Paradise Beach.
