I will have to quit reading posts about changes at WDW as I really have lost interest in our upcoming trip. :sad2: We absolutely used to love WDW during the holiday season but are prepared for disappointment this time. Hope I am wrong!!! Otherwise, we may try DL next year.

Meh, don't let it get ya. there are alot of grumpy gripe people here on dis. if it isn't EXACTLY the way they want, They'll pound it into the ground.

We are leaving in 2 weeks for WDW. I have been thinking about this same thing. I have come to the conclusion that whatever is there we will enjoy it to the fullest and make this a special trip too.

Each and every trip for us has been completely different than the one before. I am hoping to find something I may not have noticed before or experience something I have not in the past to make this one extra special too. Hope you find your magic too. :)

I am one of those grumpy people, I do miss magic as well and I am grumpy because I love Disney and want it to be great, not less great then it used to be. If I did not care I would not be upset now. Yet, to OP, go and have fun, there is still lots to see, I do not book this holiday season because of all bad reports and cuts I do not want to spend on second trip to Disney this year, but I will see what will be in 2010.

We were just there in October. I did not see any of the "grumpy" CM's people have posted about. To me, it is still very magical. However, I don't go expecting a perfect trip so I'm not setting myself up for disappointment. Go and have a good time. If you go expecting a bad trip, you'll have a bad trip.

It'll be fantastic. Every trip is different. You can't recreate the magic you had in previous trips, but you get new magic for just this trip! Focus on the people you're sharing this vacation with (rather than who is making a salad at the fixins bar...) and it will be great!:wizard:

You know I just got back from St. Croix, and normally I am very excited to go anywhere, but this time no.

Nothing has changed, but I think all the doom and gloom in the economy has taken the fun out of things. Other people are feeling the same. You almost feel embarassed to tell people you are going on vacation or that things are good.

My reaction when I came back from St. Croix, I booked a trip to Disney!!! Go figure.....

And YES it is in Feb, and YES I am excited, and YES I deserve this, and YES I am going to have fun.....and so will you.........its Disney......have fun!!! and God Bless!!!

I was going to post the exact same thing. We're going in 2 months and everything I seem to read on here is bad, and I've been on here for the last month.

Well whatever you do, don't read the Unofficial Guide to WDW with kids...this book makes it sound like it sucks down there...to me anyway...don't watch rides on youtube either...they look so boring and slow on there!

Yes, there are things that are gone -- but sooooo much remains. Visit the different resorts -- see the Giant Gingerbread house at the Grand Floridian and in Epcot. See the Gingerbread carousel at the Yacht Club. See the Osbourne lights and walk around the world showcase at Epcot and experience how the holidays are celebrated in the different countries. Yes, I will miss the Lights of Winter, but Disney is Magic and over the holidays, it is even more so. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Christmas -- even with all the crowds -- remains my favorite time to go!!!!!!

Don't let it get to you, it's still Disney and you'll have a great time. I'm one of those people that point out the bad, sorry if I have left a negative feeling from any of my posts.

It's true what they say, it's all about your attitude. Your trip will be what you make it, no matter how the other guests, or cast members, etc, act.

FWIW, losing interest in a trip is fairly normal and common, even without any negative reports you might or might not read. Having planned my wedding for waaaaay too long, I saw people losing the excitement inside a month from wedding and/or honeymoon, and having been on this and other boards, I see the same with disney. It's part of the planning stages, and though it doesn't hit *everyone*, it is very common.

That said, whether or not you love this trip, go to DLR for Yuletime! It's quite excellent, and so far they haven't adopted WDW's "pay for the extra fun" stuff at yuletime, where everything (except the "free" or rather, *included in the cost*, cocoa and cookies) is available for everyone.:goodvibes

Our last trip in February was less than spectacular. Can't put my finger on it, but it was just overall lacking. Perhaps it was the fact that it was our first trip in a while not between Thanksgiving & Christmas and all of the excitement that goes with that. With the kids a little older now, it's WDW during the holidays or not at all now. Otherwise, the magic is slipping ....

Well, there are some of us who have gone, at this time of year, for many years and have tired of Disney taking things away, yet raising prices. Yes, things change..that's life.

But...I'm heading back for a two week stay. Guess it looks like I'll be making do with what's left there. Am I all a twitter over my approaching trip? Sure. I love going to WDW at this time of year. Am I disappointed that the LoW won't be there, in Epcot? That 'Twas the Night Before Christmas' is gone from MVMCP? That I no longer get a free 5x7 when attending the party? Sure...all that disappoints me, along with other things. But, I'm going. And I'm gonna have a good time. But I will miss those things that have been taken away.

Well I'm one of "us" and yeah some things change, but i'm one who tends to think about the haves not the have nots.

I watch and read these boards for information and entertainment. I have never allowed anything I've read here to influence how I feel about my Disney experiences.

I came home from my September trip saying so many opposites things from many people on the boards. I found a ton of magic in our trip, I never focused on any negative experiences, I found the cast hardworking and enjoyable. I was overall overwhelmed with how WELL Disney does so many things, not thinking about small details that would ruin everything. KWIM?

I simply cannot WAIT to be back in the world and will be traveling for the sheer pleasure of being on vacation, oh and alone with my spouse . I know I have a high chance of having plenty of magic, but even if I don't I'm on vacation and I'm alone with my spouse:love:.

Don't let others tales of woe change the way you feel about Disney, it is your vacation and your plans and your fun. Go and have a great time!

I never lose my excitement about going to Disney. There will always be changes and I will not always like them. For example, the Tomorrowland theme breakup between the change in the TTA soundtrack and the missteps with Stich's party seem unfortunate and unnecessary. But I am very excited about the transformation of Fantasyland. In the end, over time I find that missteps get ultimately corrected (after assets depreciate!) and that service problems are extremely few and far between at Disney.

Change is necessary. Many changes are magical and the end-to-end experience of a Disney vacation has not lost magic for me, even if details I am fond of go through transformation.

That being said, I'd give anything to get a chance to take over the tomorrowland Imagineering vision.

Exactly..if they don't like oh well.

Sometimes I wish I never found these boards, even though I like reading about info and helping sharing tips. A few people here make it sound like a dump, yet I always have a magical time when I'm there.

Sometimes I think alot of those people try to look for things to complain about just so they can post a complaint. Even try to spoil other peoples trips?
As if disney is an utopia of magical people and nothing should have ever changed from 1974 on.

Think if it like this, it's like at work, there's always that one person who will complain about anything
you wonder why they even work there (in this case spend their money on vacation there if they have such a bad time) But here you have thousands of people together so your going to have dozens or even hundreds of those whinners.

And remember that one negative post is one experience out of probably an entire week of experiences. They just choose to talk about the one bad thing than the 1,000 great things.

Go have a great time..and come back, when you see a complaint laugh at how sad it is some people just can't find fun in even the best of places (or while vacation)

Y'know ... you'll enjoy this trip as much as YOU want to. If you walk in expecting to be disappointed, you will be. If you walk in ready for a magical holiday vacation with your family, that's what you'll have. There is no reason for you to not absolutely love WDW during the holiday season, unless you decide you're not going to.

Remember ... years ago, Disney didn't have half of what it has now at the holidays, and people still had remarkable magical vacations. It's up to you.

:earsboy:

All of this because the stupid lights in Epcot are gone?
