This is way out of character for me to post much of anything (mostly because it has been a few years since we were last at WDW and so not much to offer from recent experience), but we have been reading the boards for about 14 months....to learn what we could because have spent the last 14 months saving, planning, drooling and saving some more for our trip. Well, it is finally here!! We get to leave tomorrow - right after school. We are both teachers and have 3 teens (8th, 10th & Sr). This very well could be our 3rd and final trip as just us 5, so we have put a lot into planning & saving. Our son will be headed to UT (Go Vols!) and will joining the ROTC Unit and therefore we don't really know what the future of his summers hold and we know spring breaks will never match again (we are both public school teachers & our breaks won't match college breaks). So, I wanted to post that we are very excited! We have been counting the days, marking days off on our calendar, sending fun texts & emails to each other.
I thought I would post that there are still many of us out there super excited to hit the World. We were a little disappointed to hear about Main St Bakery, fastpass changes, moat dry, 7DMT may or may not be in soft opening stage, but we have decided that any kind of dat Disney has to be better than any kind of day anywhere else on this planet!
We have not tried to build the "perfect" vacation nor do we have any delusions that all will go perfectly or even as planned or even as hoped at every moment. But, we look at that as part of the fun....adjusting and overcoming.
Because there is 5 of us and money is an issue (did I mention we are both teachers?!) we are staying offsite at WBC. We think the space will be awesome and hoping it will more than make up for not being inside the "bubble."
We are hoping to make some awesome memories that we can talk about for years and share as a family and then share again when we come back as an expanded family with SILs and DIL and grandkids!!
So, for anyone looking for some positiveness....we have all kinds of it in this family and we are definitely disney people! Maybe we will decide that Disney is not worthy of our dollars any more, but maybe we will confirm that our vacation happiness is as much our responsibility as it is Disney's. We hope that with a little planning, researching and patience we will know what are getting into and can make the most of it.
I hope that someone will be a little inspired by our excitement (as we have been by others') and look forward to their trip rather than debating whether or not they have made a mistake in deciding to take their dollars to Disney.
Happy Disneying everyone....we will be soaking it up in full force in about 40 hours!! Heck, we are even looking forward to the drive from NC down to Orlando.

Have an absolutely great vacation and please do pop on when it's over and let us know how it went. Travel safely!

We will defn post a trip report.....we have learned so much from other reports we feel like we owe it to the community to post ours -- as good, bad or indifferent as might be.

Thanks for the well wishes!

DisneyFlash,

Have a wonderful trip! I'm leaving in about 2.5 weeks and I am excited too! I think you have a great attitude going into your trip and it will be a special trip because you will be having family time. The really special memories are the ones that happen spontaneously, you can't plan for magic all the time. For sure post a trip report and have fun!

:goodvibes

Love your post - hope you have a magical, fabulous time!

Have a wonderful time!!! I think you are going into this with the right attitude...

You made it!!! Please let us know how your trip goes and how staying offsite is. We leave in 9 days and are staying offsite at WH--we are soo excited too!!! We have 11 in our party, but 6 of those are our kiddos! Have a GREAT time!

We are driving from SC--let us know how the traffic/construction is around Jacksonville, FL--I am a little concerned about that. We plan to eat lunch around Brunswick, GA then head on. So we will probably be near Jacksonville around 1-130pm. Thanks for any tips and have a GREAT time!!!!!

We are leaving tomorrow too! Driving from NJ. Picking up kids right from school at 230p and not planning to stop until we are at Disney :)
Here's to low crowds and great weather.!!! Well great weather at least :)

This is Disneyflash's better half!

khanna -- we will update on traffic/construction. Comparison won't quite be apples to apples cuz we will going thru J'ville around 9-10 pm, but we can certainly let u know if there is any construction.

tangled - our school lets out at 3:15. Hubby will have vehicle loaded and sitting in the parking lot waiting for kids to exit the bldg. I hope the kids use the RR before walking out of the bldg!!

Have a great trip! We are leaving on Saturday. The weather is slated to be beautiful in the coming week or so.

I hope you have the best time of your life. Enjoy it--as you mentioned in your post, it will never be exactly this way again. I hope the trip ends up having a special meaning for everyone involved.

Khanna - we went thru jville bout 915pm thurs night 4/16. There is construction from bout 7 miles north to bout 5-10 miles south and all thru jville. But, I would say it only mildly affected us. We were able to still move at good pace (50-60 mph) depending on speed limit in the work zone. Worst part is losing a lane or two at times. Can't say what day time traffic will be like, but the two accidents we passed caused more trouble than the construction.... For us Atleast.
Good luck n safe travels to you. We made it from kings mtn NC to downtown Disney in bout 8:15 including to stops, but that is traveling with teens.

So jealous - 75 days to go for us yet!! Just ticking off the days until we can book fp+ . Thanks for such a positive post and am sure you will have an awesome vacation....HAV FUN!! :dance3::cheer2:

Have a blast! Wyndham Bonnet Creek is amazing. You will never go back t onsite again!!! You are in the "bubble." Don't you worry.

We arrive Wednesday. See you by the pool!

Hope you have a great time! :cool1:

Bring ponchos today, we're supposed to get some bad thunderstorms this afternoon, but the rest of the week looks beautiful for you!

Where in NC are you? I'm just north of Charlotte, how cool!

I think the moat has been filled in in the last couple days, if that helps you get more excited :-) Also, I really applaud you for staying positive and open, even if the changes aren't what you want in a vacation- I think there's been a lot of negativity making the rounds lately because of the changes, but I for one am excited to see what MM+, MagicBands, FP+, and the new Main Street Bakery have in store (I'm also a big Starbucks fan, so that might have a great deal to do with the MSB!) I hope you have so much fun on your trip, and be sure to come back and tell us all about it!!! Go Vols!
