This is way out of character for me to post much of anything (mostly because it has been a few years since we were last at WDW and so not much to offer from recent experience), but we have been reading the boards for about 14 months....to learn what we could because have spent the last 14 months saving, planning, drooling and saving some more for our trip. Well, it is finally here!! We get to leave tomorrow - right after school. We are both teachers and have 3 teens (8th, 10th & Sr). This very well could be our 3rd and final trip as just us 5, so we have put a lot into planning & saving. Our son will be headed to UT (Go Vols!) and will joining the ROTC Unit and therefore we don't really know what the future of his summers hold and we know spring breaks will never match again (we are both public school teachers & our breaks won't match college breaks). So, I wanted to post that we are very excited! We have been counting the days, marking days off on our calendar, sending fun texts & emails to each other.
I thought I would post that there are still many of us out there super excited to hit the World. We were a little disappointed to hear about Main St Bakery, fastpass changes, moat dry, 7DMT may or may not be in soft opening stage, but we have decided that any kind of dat Disney has to be better than any kind of day anywhere else on this planet!
We have not tried to build the "perfect" vacation nor do we have any delusions that all will go perfectly or even as planned or even as hoped at every moment. But, we look at that as part of the fun....adjusting and overcoming.
Because there is 5 of us and money is an issue (did I mention we are both teachers?!) we are staying offsite at WBC. We think the space will be awesome and hoping it will more than make up for not being inside the "bubble."
We are hoping to make some awesome memories that we can talk about for years and share as a family and then share again when we come back as an expanded family with SILs and DIL and grandkids!!
So, for anyone looking for some positiveness....we have all kinds of it in this family and we are definitely disney people! Maybe we will decide that Disney is not worthy of our dollars any more, but maybe we will confirm that our vacation happiness is as much our responsibility as it is Disney's. We hope that with a little planning, researching and patience we will know what are getting into and can make the most of it.
I hope that someone will be a little inspired by our excitement (as we have been by others') and look forward to their trip rather than debating whether or not they have made a mistake in deciding to take their dollars to Disney.
Happy Disneying everyone....we will be soaking it up in full force in about 40 hours!! Heck, we are even looking forward to the drive from NC down to Orlando.
