DH and DD gave me a cricut for Christmas.... I don't scrapbook.. But I am sooooo Excited !
What else besides scrapbooking to love using yours for ???

I use mine for scrappin but also posters, signs, and school projects, christmas/ present tags. Have fun they are addictive.

Mostly scrapping, but also cards and signs. . . oh, and shower and wedding favors.

mainly scrapping but sometimes I use them to decorate (cut out hearts for windows on V-day) made paperdolls of classmates in elf costumes/Halloween costumes

You name it I've probably done it..
Cut vinyl for windows, going to cut vinyl to make shirts for disney soon.
I scrapbook, the kids make posters/projects, banners, cards.

same as some of those above, scrapbooking, card making, posters and I've also used mine to cut fabric to iron onto T-shirts, tote bags, etc

DH and DD's game me one also!!! I am so excited and yet totally confused at the same time ;)

Not sure where to start, what cartridges to get, tools etc.

I plan on doing lots of disney scrapping, but also school sports scrapping.

and what is this about cutting designs for Shirts??? Please tell me more about that :confused3

Have fun playing with your cricut.

Oh what FUN!!

I use mine mainly for scrapbooking.

I did make a bunch of stuff for my Sister's Baby Shower and my Nephew's Baptism (banners, favors and such).

I've cut out fabric mickey heads and have ironed them on tote bags and am cutting some greek letters for my niece's sorority for a t-shirt for her.

What I have done is buy a good cotton fabric like, Kona cotton, iron Heat N Bond to it and then put the fabric on the mat (heat n bond side down) and select your cut. Any fabric that I have cut has come out really well although I didnt cut anything too intricate.

I got the Noah's Ark cartridge at Thanksgiving and am looking forward to making the 3D animals for my nieces and nephews to play with. They have a number of carts ith 3D stuff on them now that make great items to play with- I know there are princess and robot 3D carts.

Used my cricut last night for the first time!!! Had a great time. BOY is that mat sticky!!! I had a hard time getting the paper off it.

Question about gluing the letters onto my scrapbook pages: The letters were so narrow that the gluedot thingy was making a mess??? Any tips?

Question 2: I'm am going to attempt to cut a couple of Disney Characters out, and I'm quite scared that the pieces will be so small they will tear? What is the smallest size I should attempt?

P.S. Would I be better off using a heavier paper/cardstock rather than the thinner version for cutting? and then adhere the cuttings to a thinner paper?

I know that some people have a way to make them less sticky- sometimes I just use a scrap piece of paper and put it on and then peel it off a couple of times.

Most of us use a glue pen or a xyron machine to glue down things.

I would suggest making them at least 6 inches your first go round- once you have made them some parts get easier and many I have done at 3-4 inches but for a first time I would go with 6 inches at least.

I know there are sites out that have lists of the right combination of speed and pressure for various types of paper and you may want to google and find it. Ono blog that has a lot of cricut stuff and does cart giveaways weekly is everydaycricut- you can find it on google.

UGH I had an entire post and I wiped it out clicking to a blog!

I use my Cricut for cards, posters, ornaments, tags, gift card holders, etc. So many uses!! I have the following cartridges - Plantin Schoolbook, Accent Essentials, Doodle Charms, Mini Monsters, Creat A Critter (my favorite), Wild Cards and Pink Journey.

I highly recommend you check out the cartridge handbooks on Cricut.com to see what you really need. http://www.cricut.com/information/cartridge_library.aspx

Mat - you need your mat to be really sticky or the paper wont stay when you cut. I recommend you put the plastic piece ontop of the mat after you use it.

Question 1 - There's a great Zip glue pen for small pieces as well as permanent adhesives you can get at craft stores, but honestly Elmers glue works great! Make a thin layer of glue and it works fine!

Question 2 - the Disney cartridge is one of the tough ones. Check out Youtube to see how others have had success. Youtube has some great ideas and tips on using your Cricut - great place to start learning about what you've got!!

Here's some sites I use. Watch their blog videos and have fun!! Mypinkstamper.com, http://www.kwernerdesign.com/blog/, http://tayloredexpressions.blogspot.com/, http://www.creationswithchristina.com/. They're mostly card makers, but they show some great uses of your Cricut!

Have fun! There's so much things you can do with it!!

I attempted my first Disney Character last night, a Cheshire Cat of course, and it came out sooooo cute!!!!

I also purchased some smaller sized sheets of cardstock and found it worked perfect for the character pieces.

What great responses !! Everyone seems to just love That Cricut. My Mat has not stayed tacky... only used for maybe 8 to 10 cuts ??? At this rate I don't know if I can afford it?

I Need to figure out the speed depth etc etc... and what cart to get next ( Sweet tooth I think... or a Disney one )

I have also played around a bit on Cricutcraftroom.

I like the idea of using it for fabric... Maybe I can use it for my FE for my DCL !!

Try wiping the mat down with a baby wipe to clean it off- that tends to bring back some of the stickiness but not too much. Also the best lesson about mats I learned (I think from Susan-123SA) was to write the word top with a premenant marker near the hanger hole before ever taking off the plastic sheet for the first time. If you accidentally put the sheet on the wrong side it will remove extra tack.

I also use painters tape and tape down paper when the mat is just so so sticky unless I am doing intricate cuts. I have also found that glittered carstock tends to unsticky the mat quickly and so I keep an older mat just for glittered cardstock.

There are various ways to resticky your mats- of course using any of them suppossedly voids your warranty but they would have to show it was the resticked mats that caused the problems.

Cutting fabric is fun and easy! I made this banner for the Relay for Life using my Cricut and fabric.

And, it's hard to see, but the Big Sister shirt my great niece is wearing in this picture (she was trying to get her new baby brother to high five her), is fabric cut with the Cricut as well.

I don't scrapbook, in that I don't do 12 x 12 pages. I do mini-books that I learn about on You Tube, make cards, decorate gift bags, make gift tags, make designs for diaper cakes, gift card holders. It is amazing what you can do with a Cricut. I know you will love it.
