I posted this on the resorts thread too:

So I'm not sure what to do. I had originally planned on booking us at POR during free dining.

Now my Mom is showing interest in going back to Disney. The problem for her is that she has time share points that she needs to use. She looked through her interval international book and all of the Disney Villas are options. When she called none of them are available for the whole year. I'm not sure if this is because they are booked, or if it's because DVC members can't book a stay somewhere that is not their home resort until 7 months before hand.

Do you DVC-ers know anything about this? Have you heard of anyone being able to exchange their time share points to stay at a DVC resort or know how long they had to book in advance? Any insight would be appreciated as going with my Mom would save us a ton of money!

DVC no longer trades with Interval as of the end of this month. Maybe your mom can book a Marriott Vacation Club resort instead. They still trade with Interval and are very nice. We alternate our trips between DVC and Marriott Vacation Club.

If your Mom's timeshare also trades through RCI, there may be some trade options available after the first of the year. RCI is DVCs "new" trading partner.

if she is looking for a 2-bedroom that is the problem. there were never many 2-bedrooms and can just about guaranteed they are all gone.

Sept had some studios - so if you go with 2 studios - you might be able to do it.

forgot don't try to request BWV, BCV or VWL - these are gone. but you might get lucky and get OKW or SSR.

Call II and ask them to look. Some of the DVC never show up on the website.

If Interval is your only option, consider any of the Marriotts (the Palms properties are closer, but a little older) or Vistana Villages. All will be great.

Yea I just ran across that bit of info about II no longer trading with Disney..bummer. She has a Hyatt Vacation Club timeshare and I have no idea if they trade through RCI at all. All I know is that we get the II catalogue sent to us.

Is II booking any stays for 2009? Like if we were to call today (not asking for a 2 bedroom) would we be able to book it in 2009 or are they discontinuing it for the whole year (that would also explain no availability).

I have my heart set on staying at a Disney resort, I love the bus service and getting to use EMH. It would be a big cost saver to stay with her even if it is an off site place, but I guess I'll have to decide what is more important to me.

Hyatt trades through Interval. The maintenance fees for a Hyatt Vacation Club are probably easily $1,300 a year or more. I'd be very picky about what I traded for in Interval with Hyatt - no way would I give up a Hyatt 2 bedroom for a DVC studio. Hyatt Vacation Club rents for big bucks on Redweek for cash. Your mom could probably rent her Hyatt easily and have plenty of money left over for a Disney deluxe hotel stay. Hyatt is at the top of the food chain (laughter).

You can probably get free dining for the fall for cheap through Disney on cash - it's cheap to stay at Disney in the fall after the kids go back to school.

Just a reminder that information seeking to rent or trade can only be posted on our DVC Rent/Trade Board. Thanks everyone.

Okay, I just noticed your exchange is also in Florida. That probably makes it a bit more difficult. I'm not sure where Bonita Springs is, but if it's anywhere in the central to north central golf area of Florida, it will be tough to trade directly with a DVC member. It's too close to Orlando. Now, if she can trade to OTHER Hyatt properties, then it might be easier.

Anyone interested in trading their timeshares for DVC stays should visit our DVC Rent/Trade Board where those requests may be posted. Folks seeking such should not post on the other boards if there is an interest in this. As of today, DVC no longer contracts with II as a partner to trade DVC points for. Thanks everyone.
