QOTD for Wednesday -

How many siblings do you have? How many does your spouse/significant other have?

I have one sister and married into a family of seven kids. It was a big change, there's lots of family diversity (that's a nice way to put it ) in Joe's family but was an easy adjustment for me.

I have just one sister, and my husband has three brothers.

I only have 1 sister, John has 4 sisters and a brother.

With John having so many siblings, he has a niece that is a year younger then me.

I have one DSis and DH and has a brother. The difference is that my DSis is probably my BFF, but DH and his brother don't ever see or hear from each other.

I had one DS who passed away from breast cancer a few years ago. Bob has 2 sisters.

I have one sister that I'm not in contact with, and my DH has 2 sisters alot older than him, that we rarely see. I had a TOXIC relationship with my DSis and because of this, choose not to be in contact with her.

Happy Girls Day!!!

This might just be celebrated here, and in Japan. So today's QOTD is-

Are there any particular holidays that only your state celebrates, and/or a holiday that you and your family celebrates because of your heritage? What do you do? Is there any particular foods that are served for this holiday?

Here in MA (well only one county Suffolk County which includes Boston,celebrates it )we celebrate Evacuation Day,that's when the British troops evacuated Boston during the Revolutionary war! But since it's celebrated on March 17th it coincides with St.Patrick"s Day. When I was little I thought(having a Grandmother who came straight from Ireland) we had the day off so us Irish could celebrate St Pat's day!

Did you get to stay home from school on St.Patricks Day if it landed on a school day?

Texas Independence Day but I don't think that it's celebrated. Well, maybe some restaurants may special dishes or discounts but that's about it.

Oh YES we did!!! It was awesome!! That"s why I thought when I was little we got it off because we were Irish or had Irish blood in us!! But as I got older I realized that SOME were so glad they had it off because they needed it as a day of recovery!!

How often do you eat leftovers at your house? When you cook, do you cook so that you have extras?

If anyone eats leftovers, it's usually me so I try to cook so I don't have any.

I won't eat leftovers, but i make enough so John can take it the next day for lunch.

My DD has activities that keep us going most of the week after school so on the 2 nights I am home I try to make extra especially the meats like roast beef,ham chicken,. so that they can turn it into sandwiches or heat it up with mac and cheese,rice or salad. It saves time and saves them from "starving".

I try to avoid leftovers, as 60% of the time they end up getting ignored in the fridge until I end up throwing them out. If they are in the fridge for more than 1 day post meal, then it usually ends up getting tossed. Same thing with Turkey, they'll eat it for 2 days then ignore it until it "Dissappears", so I try to buy a small enough turkey to avoid leftovers for more than 2 days.

I've a pot roast in the Crock Pot right now, and it will be good for 2 meals! I love things like left over lasagna or pizza for breakfast. DH doesn't do that, but we do have some meals "twice" but I don't have them 2 days in a row.

I like to make a chicken pot pie casserole out of left over store bought or home roasted chicken.
