Hi,
Just wondering what the current recomendations are for travel money.I have used M&S in the past but they have started charging interest and fees.TTT are offering 1.67 but with 1.75% commision and I don't think they deliver. The Post Ofice is offering 1.6074 commision free. The best seems to be Onlinefx with 1.6215 and a one off £3.95 delivery charge.
I intend to use my credit card too but like to have some "real" money too.
Anybody got any other tips..?

Mick.

Yes, open a Nationwide Current Account and get a Nationwide CC if you don't already have these. There will be no currency loadings or charge (by Nationwide) for using ATMs....use ATMs at Publix or Walmart and the ATM will not charge. You will get the full market rate....we are just back and were getting an exchange rate of around 1.67.

Travelex offer one of the best rates at the moment (1.6348 commission free), but they don't deliver - you have to pick it up at the airport on the day of departure.

So if you're the type of person who likes to have their cash in their hand long before they travel (like my other half), this may not suit you. I, on the other hand, had no problems with this and so bought through them when I went a few weeks back. To each their own I suppose.

Hi just thought I'd add my bit!

I went into Marks & Spencer this morning and got some money changed got a rate of 1.6420 and I wasn't charged one penny commission! I have never been charged any fees.

Mickg7dyd - I have a list of M & S Bureaux de change branches on the back of my little envelope! If you want I can try and find one close to you.

Hope this helps

Hi,
Thanks for the replies.
I'll give Travelex a look Steve and compare. The better half has a Nationwide CC so thats another option thanks amf.
Kell I used to order from M&S on the phone and used my chargecard and as long as I ordered £500 min they delivered free and if I timed right I got about 50 days interest free. Now they only take their credit card for phone orders and treat it as a cash advance and charge interest from the day you have them and a 1.5% "handling" charge. Not sure if they have any bureax in Lincolnshire but if so I'd appreciate the address.

Mick.
