We booked tickets for Mickeys Christmas party the other week and I used my new Nationwide credit card. It came to $122.00 or £64.00!! I had an exchange rate of $1.88. Well impressed. When we get to Orlando the card will no doubt be in meltdown.

So don't nationwide charge a foreign transaction fee ?

I know amex charge 2.75% on top !!!! (Lucky I get 2% cashback I suppose)

Excellent news. We have taken out a Nationwide Credit Card just for this holiday. Plan on using it to purchase MNSSHP tickets for next year and will use it there as well.

In reply to Paul, no, there was no transaction fee. This was part of the reason I took this card out. After all, every pound is a prisoner.

AFAIK there are a lot of card providers that don't charge for overseas transactions. Most (and I would imagine all) bundle any charge in with the rate they give people.

As a rule of thumb, the larger the card company the better the rate they get, and can pass on. If anything, I am surprised that card companies still charge a fee for using overseas unless it is a cash advance/ATM transaction.

I accidently used my nationwide debit card in NY last week and got 1.87 as the exchange rate, can't wait to see what rate my credit card got. Never got charged on the debit card either.

Going in 2 weeks, the rate seems to be going up nicely.

The nationwide card is flexed and ready to go, as is my nationwide debit card for the ATM.
