Just wondered if anybody knows roughly the exchange rate you get when using a credit card. I know you usually get more than the hight street rate and I know it can vary day to day, but if anybody had a rough guide?

Been holding off to buy AP's, hoping exchange rate would creep up a bit. But I want to buy before the price increase. Thanks.

All credit cards work with a corporate rate, from this rate your CC company takes a %, for Eg Virgin CC take 2.99%, look at the website of your CC and in the summery box it will show what fee yours charge.
Then use this tool to show what todays rate is.
http://www.corporate.visa.com/pd/consumer_services/consumer_ex_rates.jsp

3 example rates
Post office (what I use) 0% 1 British Pound = 1.65 US Dollars
Nationwide 0.84% 1 British Pound = 1.64 US Dollars
Virgin 2.99% 1 British Pound = 1.60 US Dollars

Its not exact as I believe its an indicator from start of the trading day, like today the rate has fallen since opening so now not quite as good as shown but will show you what kind of rate you will get.

A more accurate way is to take the current rate from BBC and deduct the % of your card.

Yep.... That about correct just got back from florida few weeks ago, we got our post office card statement yesterday and the rate was between 1.65 and 1.69 over the two weeks we were out there....!
