So the day we fly is also my pay day which leaves us in a rather awkward position when it comes to extra spending money. Usualy we buy the bulk of it early, so i have never had to look exchange rates in the airport.

does any one have any experiance as to what rates are like in the airport? or would i be better just withdrawing the money from an ATM when I arrive?

Thanks in advance for the advice.

I guess it depends on what type of card you have to be able to draw out cash there. If you have a credit card which charges no fee's for purchasing and withdrawing cash abroad then that would be your best bet. However, the wrong type of card with the wrong bank could cost you!

With regards to rates at the airport, I would look at booking in advance as you often get a better rate doing that than just turning up.

as you have plenty of time, you could maybe consider applying for a credit card with zero fee's and using that for purchases and withdrawing cash there. I think Halifax clarity is the best one at moment. :)

If you are travelling to the airport the same day as you fly, you could 'pre-book' your currency online with Travelex, for collection the saem day and then just pick it up when you arrive at the airport. That way, you would at least get the better rate.
