I was in Disney last week from the 12th-17th and when I took money out a Chase ATM, I was charged REALLY high exchange rate. To the point if I had $80CAD in my account, I could only take out $40USD. A little high, no?
So I contacted my Credit Union and said that's pretty high... turns out nearly everyone who was in the USA last week and who took money out of CIRRUS machines were affected by the machines applying DOUBLE the exchange rate on them!
I have been reimbursed the difference - $120!! That was from three withdrawals I made while down there. Yes, I know... but I didn't get paid til Friday, so I couldn't have taken more money with me at the start.
ANYWAY, if you were in the US last week AND you happened to have taken money out of an ATM while there AND you noticed the exchange rate was really high, please contact your bank to get it looked into.
