Day 4 (Sun 12/11) Cloudy and cool temps! Big plans for this day. First it was off to AK at 9 AM. While my father and brother leisurely made there way to Safari taking in all the sights, I booked it to safari for fast passes. Fast pass was for 10 AM so we hung around Africa and took in the themeing as my father made his usual comments such as “I can’t believe this”, and “I never thought there was so much to Disney”. On his walk through at Tusker he stated, “This looks like a good place to have lunch.” Disney was reeling him in with their “expensive restaurant food”.

Safari was great as usual. All the animals were out and about. The lion gave us an impressive yawn. Next headed down the Gorilla trail, and the big guy, all 640 lbs of him was hanging around the viewing area on the family side. The CM told us that the little one with him was a six- year-old female who was “Daddy’s girl”. The mom was off to the side with a sheet and gave “Daddy’s girl” a good swat when she approached mom and her sheet. The CM said mom had wanted to take the sheet out with here that morning. Something she does frequently and then would hoard it all day and leave it behind at days end.

We headed off to “Bug”. Brother and father thought it was “neat”. I felt they had toned it down some, as I did not feel as many “bites” as last time. As we were leaving the tree it was pouring buckets. I made a dash for a poncho for my father and then we headed out.I felt for those poor parents coming out to soaking wet strollers and having to push them and carry the little ones. It was cold AND wet now. We headed out, and my father kept saying, "I can't believe so many people are coming in here and when it's this cold and raining?" I looked at him and said, "Well a lot of them don't have season tickets like you. They can't come back anytime they want. They have paid big money to here and here is where they want to be". He replied, "I guess so" in a sad sort of way. It was a moment.

Back at the resort optimism ruled. This was CP and illuminations night and the rain just had to stop. It did. It was a night for coats but it was dry.

We were in the package line for CP at 6:00 PM. standing in front of Japan and entertained by the drummers. Seated by 6:30 under cover. This was my first time to CP too. What can I say? It was wonderful. The entire show beginning to end. Again, my father could not believe it did not “cost extra”. Are you getting a theme with him?

We headed off to Rose and Crown for dinner at 8 PM and the anticipation of Illuminations. We secured a table on the upper patio with the plastic cover and heaters. Things were going so well. It was Pixie Dust, I know it was. We had a very enjoyable dinner. (See dining review) Afterward the CM escorted us down to the lower patio for the show. We were up close and personal. To say my father is a big fireworks fan is an understatement. He will drive for miles for a good fireworks show. My brother and I knew this show was going to have the WOW factor for him. Did it ever. Do not miss the Christmas Illuminations show. It is over the top. Three grand finales! When it was all over he was just standing there with this look on his face like he could not believe what he just saw. He finally turned to me and asked in disbelief, “You are telling me there is another fireworks show that you like better?” Referring to my earlier comments about Wishes. I said, “I would not use the word better, just a different experience”. He said, “I don’t see how any fireworks can top that”. Again my brother and I exchanged the look.

We made it out of the park in our usual lingering way, with visions of illuminations dancing in our head. We also had three pieces of Guinness Cake riding along in the scooter basket waiting to be pared with morning or afternoon coffee. Life was good!

Coming up MGM. “ I can’t believe all these lights!” “This ice cream is GOOD!” “What do you mean we are going to see Who Wants to be a Millionaire?” And the phrase repeated many times on this trip, “You’ve got to be kidding me?”
