Exactly HOW do the tickets work?

Okay, I remember Disney when you had "E" ticket rides, so now they have this "Magic Your Way" ticket. I will be ordering from Disney a 3 day basic pass for $182. What happens then? What are the tickets of today like? Is it true you have to give up a finger print? How do these tickets in this modern era work?

Disney parks are now general admission. Technically speaking... the only thing you need your ticket for now is to get in the front gate. From there in theory you can put your ticket away. For each ride, you just have to walk right up and get in line... no ticket needed.

I say in theory because now you can use your ticket to get Fast Passes... not sure what it is.. check out this page: http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/fastpass.htm (if you have any questions about the system after reading this, feel free to ask).

As for using your ticket to get into the parks (along w/ the biometrics finger scan), check out this page:
http://www.allearsnet.com/pl/fingerscan.htm.
But basicly your ticket is a very strudy paper ticket with a magnetic strip on it that the front gates read.

But like the page before, read the linked page, if you have any questions feel free to reply and ask and someone will be more then happy to help you out here I am sure :)

and by the way.. WELCOME TO THE DIS!

I know it is none of my business, just trying to offer some help... Do you only plan to go to the park for 3 days? because to add on additional days (if they are the expiring tickets) is only a couple dollars more per day.

The only other thing you will need your tickets for once you get into the park is to get fast passes for the rides.

So is the ticket like a credit card shape? I read where they are non transferable, how do they monitor that?

The tickets are monitored by the biometric knuckle scan. That scan measures the ticket holders knuckles. WDW does not collect fingerprints of MYW ticket or pass holders.

If you are staying onsite and purchased a package, your room key (credit card style) will have your tickets, as well as Dining Plan (if purchased) and room charging privelege (if you left a credit card) on it.

Didn't go with the package because saving money for the trip over the summer and didn't have the amount needed when the purchase date would have arrived. So i have booked my room (paying for only 1 day so far) and gotten my airline tickets. Next up is getting the park tickets. At around $180 per person for a 3 day pass, may have to buy them at different times. How can I find out what the cost would be to buy them from Disney when I get to the hotel (staying at Pop Century) compared to ordering them online early?

You can save a few dollars by buying your tickets ahead of time. Go to the DIS home page and click on Discounts. There will be info there about buying tickets.

Good luck and hope you have a great trip!

We have purchased our tickets ahead of time at the local Disney Store, in our mall. The price was close to the same as ordering them ahead of time online. That was a few years ago. I am not sure if they still offer this or not. If you have a store near you, you can always check and compare prices.

If you didn't buy a package that requires you to purchase your tickets....

We subscribe to mousesavers and they send out links to ticketmania. Last year I got a 10 day non expiring tickets w/ water park feature for $358 perr adult. I had noticed that some months some are on sale.

REALLY? Well thank you very much that is wonderful. We have a disney store here in Indy and they do still sell tickets so I can get my 3 day pass for $180 and not be worried about the federal postal service losing them in the mail. This is great news, thank you very much. But PLEASE...GO TAMPA BAY BUCS..... :cheer2:

BTW, I was at the Panthers vs. Bucs game last season......when we played here..........and you guys did beat us. I sat right behind the Bucs bench. It was quite a sad day for me. My best friend is from Tampa. She lives here now, of course. It was not fun to talk to her after that game. I hope we will get you this season!! :cheer2: GO PANTHERS!!!!!!!! :cheer2: The season cannot start early enough for me!!!!!!!!!
