Exactly How Bad Is T-Rex?

We have reservations booked for our upcomming trip. DD loves Dinosaurs. I looked at the menu and the prices are high, but I hear the portions are huge so Dh and I will probably share.

You could definitely share an entree.

We've been twice now with our twin 9 yr. old boys. Its their favorite restaurant at Disney. We have a family of five and all got our own meal, souvenir drink cups, and the volcano dessert to share (with some left over!). It was around $120. Which is what we pay for any character meal at WDW. I think the prices and food are comparable to a TS meal in the park. Just like there, you are mostly paying for the experience.

And it even has a dino dig like AK!

We love this restaurant and think that it is a great addition to DTD.

We ate there on a Saturday evening in February. We were expecting just OK food. Well we were shocked and had probably our best meal at WDW that week. My husband and I both had salads and they were fantastic, dessert was warm gooey doughnut holes you dunk in chocolate. WOW!

The theme is really cool. The service was pretty fast especially considering the crowd. The only negative was that it was very very crowded. It was also very loud but with my kids that is not a negative since we never had to worry about their yelling :)

We have eaten at the Rainforest at WDW and always thought it was just OK. Nothing special. We ate at a local Rainforest and were totally disgusted. My husband could not even eat his meal and never wants to go back to a Rainforest. And this is a guy who will eat anything.

We are going to try and go to T-Rex again this fall :woohoo: We plan to share a salad and then each get our own dessert

I honestly don't know why this place gets bad reviews aside from that people may compare it to their local restaurant prices rather than WDW prices. I thought it was right in line for what we pay at WDW.

It IS noisy, but we went in knowing that already so there were no surprises.

We actually enjoyed our meal at T-Rex a lot. We thought the portion sizes were very large (mom and sister shared a steak entree and both were full with just half of the meal for themselves). Most of us ordered sandwiches and were happy with what we got. I had a grilled chicken with lettuce, cheese and avocado stuffed inside of a pizza crust bread. DH had a chicken salad and Dad had a philly cheesesteak. We were too full for dessert, but they looked good on other tables!

we ate there on the 4th for lunch are first time and it was pretty good food alittle pricey for burgers and sanwichs but better quality of food then say chilies and applebees we will be going back

If you like Rainforest, you'll like T-Rex. Same type of food, smae type of service but different theme.

Does anyone know a way to sign up for the Rainforest Cafe Safari Club without having to do so in person?

Just wondering.

We're really looking forward to TRex.

You do need to do it in person, no way to sign up online or call.

We really thought T-rex was cool. The food was large portions and tasty. Wasn't gourmet but decent. My only down comment might be that they need to have a veggie burger or sandwich. I wasn't hungry enough for a pasta dish. We plan to visit again this trip.

We liked T-Rex. I went there expecting not to like it, but was surprised. We went for my nephews to try to undo some of their princess overload. My teen girls liked it so much they have requested to go back. Yes, it is loud. Yes, it is pricey, but it is Disney. Everything is pricey. We thought the food was good. My daughter loved the mushroom ravioli. My mom, who is our pickiest eater, enjoyed her meal there. There is a lot to look at.

We loved t-rex. It was fun, even for adults and we thought the food was really good. Try the appetizer sampler!!!

The safari club will get you priority seating at RFC, but not T-Rex. The card never expires as long as you use it one a year.

I had a post asking about the safari club benefits there, and people said you can get priority seating with it. Now, priority seating is never actually guaranteed, b/c if it gets too busy with club members then the benefit hurts others and is watered down for the club members as well.

And if you click from their home page to get the Safari Club PDF, it shows the same benefits as for RFC, including the seating benefit.

I totally thought I would have to re-buy my membership last month when eating at RFC after not using my card in around 2 years (kept getting coupons that couldn't be used with the card benefits so I just never showed it), but they said "as long as you HAVE your card, it will work". Now I've definitely heard of at least one person who was denied, but that was at the Disneyland DTD location (busy) and it was a couple years ago, so...

We're eating here on 7/23 for dinner since my DS 3 loves dinosaurs. The postive reviews are really nice to read!

I enjoyed it. I mean I'm 25 and I thought it was so cool! :lmao:

The food was good as was the cotton candy martini! :upsidedow

See the link in my signature for the food pictures!

Cotton Candy Martini???!!! Sign me up for that!;)

We were just there last week. It was amazing. There was also a huge crowd waiting to get in. I booked reservations about 6 weeks out and waited about 5 minutes for a table. We were on the Deluxe Dining Plan so we ate a ton of character meals and signature stuff over the 2 weeks we were at Disney. However, this was all of the kids' favorite place, hands down. (we did CRT, CP, Chef Mickeys, etc).

The food was decent, I honestly couldn't tell you much about it. It was fine, nothing terrible. The atmosphere makes it so worth it. BTW, not to mislead anyone, they don't accept the DDP.

My dinner at T-Rex was one of my favourite meals of the whole trip. I had the Mammoth Mushroom Ravioli and really enjoyed it. If we had had more time, we would have gone back again.

Wow. I can't believe all the positive reviews of this place. It just goes to show that different people have different tastes and totally different experiences.

It was perhaps the worst meal we've ever had at WDW.

Why?

It was extremely loud. I am a music teacher, so I'm used to a lot of noise. This was nutz. Our oldest has Asperger's and it was way overstimulating for him. The other kids that were with us are 'normal', regular kids...and it was overstimulating for them as well. The were wound up all day after that.

It was extremely crowded. We had to literally push our way in after we were called for our ADR (saying excuse me, excuse me of course!) because the waiting area was shoulder to shoulder. We were there mid-afternoon, not at a peak meal time.

It was expensive. We decided to have non-alcholic drinks (the adults had diet coke and the kids had a specialty drink that came in a plastic bone--not fun to carry around afterwards! Shoulda thought about that) and to share 2 appetizers to cut down our time in that place, and the bill was still over $60 for 4 people.

The food was---meh. It is the same as what you might find at your local Applebee's. Frozen, boxed stuff. Nothing freshly prepared.

The decor is very cool. I suggest that you walk through at opening...and then LEAVE.

We like T-Rex. They make the best frozen margarita...we got the recipe from one of the bartenders. The Footprints Flatbread was very good (big enough for an entree), as was the Mammoth Mushroom Ravioli.

Oh, forgot to add that we got seated as priority with the Safari Club Card, plus received 10% off bill.

Didn't enjoy T-Rex. Partly because I hate dinosaurs anyway  but also because of the food. I don't enjoy the waffle fries, I prefer normal fries. We had some kind of 'meteor bites' for dessert which sounded a lot nicer than they actually were. It's not somewhere I'd go back to. I don't like Rainforest either but I'd rather eat in Rainforest than T-Rex.
