Is there a way to find out how many seats are remaining on a particular southwest flight?

Then one might guess the more empty seats, the more chance of seeing a Ding. The fuller the flight, the less likely there would be a discount.....right?

i would say that is a pretty likely deduction... the more empty seats, the more likely a "sale" :)
how to tell if there are empty seats... well, you can go to the regular reservation screen and put in up to 8 people to see that there are at least 8 seats left... i typically judge a planes "fullness" by how many categories of price are available... if only the cheap seats are "unavailable" then chances are good the flight is not very full... i'm hoping my theory is right 'cause our flights are only sold out in the $79 category w/the rest being wide open... ::hoping for a ding fare too!::

This is exactly how I judge it and it has always worked for me. But, with southwest's great refund policies, I usually just buy my tickets and hope for lower fares, then do a refund.

Hey Gigi,
I thought I was the only one using that method!! :rotfl2:
Yup, when all that's left are the fully refundable fares - you know the plane's not gonna have many empty middle seats!! :rotfl:
