Do they filter it, because about where it meets up with the screamin launch/peir its disgusting and scummy. Its gonna be gross when they drain it, imagine how many soggy maps will be sitting at the bootom of the lake!!!

What do you think?

Why/when are they going to drain it?

I believe they are going to drain it as part of the expansions of DCA. There's going to be some nightime show taking place in the lagoon. As for when, i don't know but it's scheduled to be complete somewhere in 2010-2011.

They used to have some tidal wave effect there or do they no longer do that?

I am sure that there is lots of disgusting stuff in all of the bodies of water at DL, DCA and WDW for that matter. :scared:

I wonder how much money is in there. It seems that everyone just has a compulsion to toss coins into water.... Same lines of thinking, I wonder how much money is in the little water feature in the queue line of BTMRR..... That thing has a ton of coins!

I have heard that the money is collected and donated to Make-a-Wish or other type charity.

I wonder how many cameras are in there, from people trying to snap pictures at that screamin launch spot! I'm always afraid I'm going to drop mine when I lean over a bit. LOL

The water at DCA is scummy looking in places as all bodies of water in the parks. The DL rivers of America water is dyed so you don't realize it's nastiness. In the BB room when getting on POTC look at the water, you can see the bottom and in places it looks kinda scuzzy too.

I can't stand the lagoon at DCA, I always felt it was way too large and a waste of valuable space and I think it ruins the flow of the park by not having more ways to walk into Paradise Pier area, you always gotta walk around that big shleppy body of scuzz water! Anything they do to the lagoon will be an upgrade so I look forward to the planned changes even though I would have taken even more of the thing out then they have planned or atleast add a new bridge or two to connect the food area to PP so you don't have to walk around.

DoomBugger, that was a funny description.

But did you all know that just a couple months ago people swam in it? They had the Anaheim area Danskin triathlon there, with the swimming portion in the lagoon.

Editing to add: from a blog I found: "The water was clean but was literally poop brown due to food coloring they put in the water".

I did get a bit carried away with the bad water in the drink at DCA, it must have been my subconscious desire to lash out at the big blob 'o wata!

It couldn't be too horribly nasty I imagine and yes having people swimming in it recently is definiely evidence of that. There is a decent amount of debris that collect by the bridge leading ot the food court, maybe that puts off the impression that it is nastola water!
