Hello everyone.

Looking to get some thoughts on best strategy for the best airfare out of Newark (any time of year). I try to avoid NYC airports and Philly is way too far.

We are traveling jersey week in 2012, but may look to switch it up since continental has held rates high that week.

I may book JetBlue as soon as its available...

Airfare to Orlando out of airports that serve NJ travelers is really high for that week - so much so that a couple of people I know travel to Disneyland instead!

Just yesterday SouthWest released rates for Oct 2012 out of PHL and JetBlue in EWR was $73 less for the 2 of us so we booked there. This is the second time in the last few years that JB from EWR beat anything we could find from PHL.

That is interesting that EWR seems cheaper then PHL, never checked PHL before.

Currently for the last week that JetBlue has available to MCO (Oct 20-Oct27) it appears to be costing me $926 for 4 of us.

However, Continental is at $1,749 for that exact date very similar times (within 1 hour).

The week we plan to go would be Nov 3 - 10, and unfortunately JetBlue is not available as of yet, but Continental is asking $3,694 for 4 of us.

To say the least, I'm a little concerned that Jet Blue is going to be a lot higher then the $926 per the schedule I mentioned above.

Its a gamble, but direct flights out of LGA on Delta are running mid 200's, just a hassle to get there.

Luck for you, it seems you got a great price, enjoy the trip.

Where do you live? We are in Bergen County NJ and LGA is often easier and quicker than EWR for us.

We are in Essex County, about 20min from EWR. About 50 to LGA.

However, you have a good point in that if we are traveling on Saturday, its possible the traffic will be more manageable.

Keeping our fingers crossed for a decent rate on JetBlue.
