I thought something was wrong with my computer--I haven't gotten any updates in two days! Where did ya'll go?

Hi there Angelina!

I think we disappear for a day or two once in awhile just so we can experience the joy of coming back! I finally had the time to sit down and read the Mardi Gras magazine you sent and I really enjoyed the article in the front that more or less said that the terrorists had nothing on the revillers at MG. I enjoyed reading the profiles on all the Kings and Queens and such even though that is not my sort of thing. How are you doing? What are you up to?

Helenabear, Had to laugh at the survey you posted as I have gotten it from several people and each and everyone pegged me for being the most likely to respond first. I must be very dependable. The only thing that kept me from doing it earlier is the fact that I just got home. I went to WW this evening. I just joined Saturday so I was not expecting much in less than a week. I did not have any trouble keeping to the diet and in fact was way under the points I was allowed. Would have been happy with one pound BUT I lost 6.6 pounds!!! If I could keep this up I might be able to keep up with some of you young 'uns (in my dreams at least). LOL

OK, survey, let me figure out how to do this one.

1. What time is it? 8:40 PM
2. Nickname: My DH calls me "Bad" I don't want to know why!

6. Eye color? Blue/Grey
7. Hair color: Dark Brown
8. Piercing: I have too many holes in my head already to add more.
9. Tattoos: 0
10. How much do you love your job? Housework, boring Library job wonderful
11. Favorite color: Pink
12. Loved somebody so much it made you cry? Yes
13. Been in a car accident? One very bad one years ago and a few fender benders, not my fault, any of them.
14. Croutons or bacon bits? Croutons
15. Sprite or 7UP? Would prefer Dr. Pepper but will settle for Sprite.
16. Favorite Movie: Gone With the Wind
17. Favorite Holiday: Christmas
18. Favorite day of the week: Monday and Wednesday when I see my oldest grandson.
19. Favorite word or phrase: Antidisestablishmentarinism

26. Favorite Sesame Street Character: Gotta be Cookie Monster as my DS wore out 2 of them.
27. Disney or Warner Bros.?: DISNEY (DUH!!!) I second that emotion.
28. Favorite Fast Food Restaurant: Tacao Bell

30. How many times did you fail your drivers test? One time, I was so embarrassed.
31. Who is the last person you got email/PM from before this one: Carole

Hi everyone!

Angelina, for about a day and a half or so, we weren't getting any e-mail notifications while Alex and the rest were doing tests on the boards. That is possibly why you may not have seen much of us here. I have a tendency not to stop in unless I have received a reply notice in my e-mail. We are here though :D I hope you are feeling better!

SG, I normally wouldn't post something like that here, but I thought it would ask silly questions that were relatively harmless but nice to know. I hadn't gotten it in a year or so, but I thought I'd put it here and show all there is to know about me ;) My sister sent it to me and she put me down as the first person to reply to it... and she said something about me being an e-mail freak... don't know what she is talking about there :D

I really don't have anything exciting to say, so this will be short. But before I go I just have to say

CONGRATULATIONS LINDA!!!!

That is wonderful and very admirable. I can't say I have lost more than 5 or 10 pounds since the New Year but I like what I am doing now and I feel better and that is what matters :D Have a great evening all!

Hey Everyone!

So sorry that I have not been able to stop in for the past few days! As it turned out, Frank was not sick from one of his "tomato reactions", but rather had a bit of the flu and fever, chills, etc. So I spent some time hovering around and tending to him (he's all better, now!). Plus, work has been really busy - out of nowhere, it got really hectic! Must be all those post-year-end / pre-tax-season issues! Anyway, I've been thinking of all of you and missed talking to you! :( Like Helenabear said, I am also so grateful to have this wonderful place to come to to relax, escape, and spend time with such kind, thoughtful, intelligent, interesting, fun people, such as yourselves! :)

Congratulations on that great weight loss, SG!!!!! That is great news!!!! I'm sure that you look great, as always! And I'm sure that you will continue to do wonderfully!

Hope that you are feeling all better by now, Angelina! And hope that all is well with you and your family!

And hope that you're doing well, up there, Jstmee! And hope that your friend is comfortable and well.

Hope that you're not working too hard, DMickey! Hope that you're taking some time to enjoy your gentleman and the time that you spend together!

Loved catching up on everyone's posts! I have also received your survey before, Helenabear, and like SG, I've always been noted as the person most likely to respond first! Sorry that I didn't see this sooner. Here are my answers!

41. Last Movie you saw: "Snow Dogs" with Frank and his family

Well, now I have to run off to a meeting - sorry that this was so short - will check in again later! Have a great day, All! :)

Janet, long time no see! We've missed you around here! We were home, just sleeping here!

Good morning everyone! I have a cat that I am more than willing to give up if anyone wants her... she has no idea that sleep at 7am on a Saturday is a good thing :D

Rider, I am so sorry to hear about Frank. I hope he is doing much better now. It does really stink when you think you have a food reaction and it turns out to be something else :(

I don't have much else to say... I am awake due to Gwen and I just wanted to say hi and wish you all a great weekend!!!

Yes, Janet, we are just sleeping in after a long and arduous weekend. LOL It is so nice of you to drop by and see how we are doing. Not as well as if you would come around more often though. (grin) How have you been and what are you up to?

Helenabear, now that you are up and fully awake I bet you are rethinking your offer of your kitty cat. I remember times when there would be a small body banging me in the head saying "Time to get up Grandma"! No matter how many times I would explain that when it was dark outside it was time to be asleep they just did not understand. (grin)

Rider, I am glad to hear that Frank is on the mend and it was not your cooking that took him down. I knew it was not. My Dh hated tomatoes when we married but I loved them and did not know how to cook much without them. He has gotten used to them amongst other things over this almost 30 years. LOL

I am waiting for my favorite brother in law to return DH this morning. I have a crockpot full of roast and veggies waiting for them. Since we are all on a diet there is nothing else to add. I could whip up something if they are so inclined though. I am starting to feel hunger pangs and have thus far coped well. I did treat myself to a sandwich from Subway, on plan, yesterday. Had the munchies last night and popped a bag of no butter popcorn that did the job well. I do well when I am out and about but not so well when at home. I will keep on trudging through.

It is snowing a bit here and we have reports of possible slick roads later in the day. Our local basketball team won the sectionals last night so there will be a lot of driving this week. The tourney resumes in a town about 2 hours away. I am so glad that sil is a school bus driver as I feel better about my loved ones being in a large vehicle at times like this.

I have been downloading all kinds of Disney stuff to this new beast. I still have only filled 5% of available space. (giggle) I believe I have found the problem with my dubbing of tapes. It is not me but the vcr. I am very frustrated. I spent a considerable amount of time yesterday changing cables and settings to no avail.

It is getting near noon so all you sleepyheads should get up and we will find something to do to clear the cobwebs.

Hi everyone!

This is a post that I tried to send the other day and the server went down.

Not so prolific but might be a tad obsessive though. It is nice to know a bit more about you Rider. I envy you your peach bedroom carpet. I love the color peach almost more than pink. I have peach tulips and they are quite costly but I love them and plant them anyway.

I am so glad that Frank is doing better. The flu is going around here also. I get a flu shot every year as a good bout of it could kill me with my respiratory problems.

Tom left for the weekend this morning. He was a happy man as his brother was explaining that this weekend was on him and DH was not allowed to pay for anything or think about coupons or anything. The coupon bit is a dig at me cause I am frugal but then we do not have a retired judge's salary. LOL I baked choc chip cookies to help see them through the weekend and did give them a couple of coupons for half off at their favorite restaurant. I made DH pack his own suitcase. I am getting mean in my old age. (grin)

I was going to treat myself to a 6 pt sandwich at Subway today after I finished at the library but I was not hungry. I have to pick up my little guy later and might change my mind by then. I would love to lose 50 pounds or so before my July 4th reunion. It would be a nice surprise for my sisters. Thank you guys for all your support. I really need it as I need to lose about what you guys each weigh. I cannot think of the grand total but must think of just losing SOME. Everyone in my family is very large so it is a hard thing to fight. The only time my DH says anything about my weight is when I lose it. He does not care for that much but I think he understands that my health is at stake now.

I have some work to do before Mr. D gets picked up. He thinks he is spending the night but with my hearing problems I am not comfortable with that so I will bathe him and put him in his jammers and when his parents come they can take him home.

I am looking forward to some serious reading time. I used to read a book a day but since retirement I am lucky to read one a week sometimes.

Have a great weekend you all and I am hoping that the weather is great for you to enjoy it with.

SG/Linda

* Life is hard, then you nap.

* Curiosity never killed anything except maybe a few hours.

* When in doubt, cop an attitude.

* Variety is the spice of life: one day ignore people, the
next day annoy them.

* Climb your way to the top--that's why drapes are there.

* Never sleep alone when you can sleep on someone's face.

* Find your place in the sun--especially if it happens to
be on that nice pile of warm, clean laundry.

* Make your mark in the world--or at least spray in each corner.

* When eating out think nothing of sending back your meal
twenty or thirty times

* If you're not receiving enough attention, try knocking
over several expensive antique lamps.

* Always give generously--a small bird or rodent left on
the bed tells them, "I care."

* When you go out into the world, remember: being placed
on a pedestal is a right, not a privilege.

This is something a friend sent me that I thought some might enjoy.

Hi there everyone!

I just wanted to pop in and say hi to you all.

SG, that was a very cute post about the cats.

I won't hide it but I am a little upset about something that happend to someone I really care about... a truly great guy. I don't want to go into any details since this still is a 'public' forum (although many don't dream of touching our thread), but just know if I don't post for a while it is because I am sad & mad and don't want to bring anyone down.

I hope you all have a great rest of the weekend!!!

I will be here, listening, watching and enjoying all you are doing. My mood is just down right now and I really am not in a posting mood today (I think I have made a total of 4 posts today unlike some days I get up to 50 or so in). It won't be long and I will be back to myself soon!

I thank you all for your caring & understanding.

Have a great day!

Is it not nice to have a place where everyone treats each other with respect and love? Wish all the boards could be the same. I have told Dan "The Man' that he is welcome to come in and rest a bit while the storms brew around him. He deserves better than he got but he surely does deserve the support and outpouring of affection he is getting.

It occured to me that I have the email addresses of most of you but might be missing a couple and am afraid that while we found this safe haven after losing our space over at the other forum that we might get displaced again and I would not like to lose contact with any of you. If you want you can pm me with your addresses and I will keep a file in case we are cut adrift at any time.

Have had a very busy and rewarding day today and am ready for a bit of a rest myself. I ended up teaching an impromptu class on the Supreme Court today. A couple of kids came in looking for research material on the SC for a class project. I found them some books and we had a lively discussion of who, what and where the Supreme Court is. A lot of the kids are bringing in their AR report cards for me to see. Sometimes I can help them see ways to get a higher rating but mostly I just encourage them to keep on. My grandson won the most improved reader at his school and he will be featured in the school newsletter. I am so very proud of him.

I am going to relax in the jacuzzi for a bit and then wander on down to Pleasure Island for a night of wild excitement. When you get to be my age your heart needs a jump start now and again. (silly grin)

Slightly Goofy/Linda

Linda, congrats to you grandson!!! What a great accomplishment to get!

It's been a day, and even though I am not known for my short posts, I think I need to join SG in the jacuzzi. Have a great day everyone!

Hi all!

So sorry that I haven't stopped in, lately, but I haven't been able to get on the Boards! Every time I tried, over the past 2 days, I got a message saying "server is busy - try again, later".

Anyway, here I am! :)

Congratulations to your grandson, SG! That is wonderful news! :) :) :) And I'm sure that you're doing wonderfully with WW. It sounds like you're very motivated and will continue to do a great job! And that's neat that you and your whole family are kind of doing it, together - you'll be the healthiest people around! And you'll look amazing at your reunion, no matter what! :) Speaking of "Subway", maybe you'll be one of those people who lost hundreds of pounds on the Subway commercials! We can say that we knew you when.......! :) You can definitely lose 50 pounds by July - I'm almost there, myself - I've lost 48 1/4 since October! :)

I hope that everything is all right, Helenabear. You know that we're here to talk, any time. But I understand why you would not want to post extremely personal information in a public forum or why you might just not be in the mood to talk at all, right now. Well, you know that we're here if you need us (via PM or e-mail, too!). Hope that you're hanging in there!

Hi Dan! Thanks for stopping by! Please come by and have a drink or a snack with us, any time! Always wonderful to see you!

And Janet - wow, that was some loooooong scuba lesson! Glad to see you!!!! How've you been?! What's been new? Please come back and catch us up on your news, if you have a chance - we missed you!

Well, time to get ready for work, now - will try to stop in again, later! Have a great day, Everyone! :)

OMG, Rider, that's great! I joined the gym last February so I could "Spin" and although I truly loved it, going 3-5X a week, I did not shed ONE POUND! Just 5 or 10 would be a nice start, although I could part with 50 or so. No matter what I do, my weight just does not fluctuate! How are you doing it?

I don't understand what all the upheaval is all about on the boards, but I hate to see Dan move anywhere! I haven't been able to get onto the boards at all for several days, so I have a lot of catching up to do.

I'm off to run some errands that I should have done last night. I'll catch up with everyone later!

Angelina

It is so great to see all of you in here. It brings sunshine into my life and a spring to my step.

Dear Dan, you are welcome to be anywhere in the DIS you want to be and we are honored by your presence. Keep on being yourself and don't sweat the small stuff. I always thought you were a nice guy but have gained a level of respect after reading your DW's thread. Any man can make a woman happy for a day or two but to keep one happy for years is an accomplishment. Most men do not get to hear such words from their loved ones until they have passed over. Do you sort of feel like Tom Sawyer in the choir loft? LOL

Rider, I think you are onto something here. If Jarad can lose over a hundred pounds by eating 2 Subway sandwiches a day IF I eat 6 I should lose 3 times as much. Right? LOL
You are the one to be admired for the weight loss. It is so much harder to lose when you don't have as much to lose. I sincerely hope you are not carrying this too far though.

Helenabear, you know we are all here for you whenever and however. Do not apologize for how you feel. We will take you however we can get you and can understand how you feel. Just please know, Elaine and Dan, that I have a feeling that this will all end up well in some way that we do not understand right now. Taking the high road always works out for the best and look at the outpouring of love and respect that is being shown. It is very touching.

Dan, remember, the offer of posting something negative still stands. You just have to give me something to say!! (big old silly grin)

Angelina, you might possibly be the size you are supposed to be and that is why you are not able to lose any. I am of the firm belief that not everyone has to be a size 6. I would not encourage anyone to be my size but there is room for a variety of 'normal' sizes in this world. My poor mother in law was so very proud that she had maintained her weight from when she was a beauty queen in her youth and when she got cancer she had nothing to support her until the medications began to work. As hard as you work taking care of your family and home I am sure you get a lot of exercise. Running after a group of Girl Scouts will do wonders for one's body and heart. Just one hint though NEVER let them store the cookies at your house. Spoken by a woman who knows the truth of that one very well!!! Hard on the diet and the wallet. LOL

I have everyone's addy that posted today but if Jstmee or anyone else logs on they might want to PM me with their addy just in case the DIS should disappear for a longer period of time. I hope not as this suite has just been refurnished. Did anyone notice that I had some new furniture installed? I saw it on the "Real World" and could not resist. So comfortable and lovely to look at as well.

Slightly Goofy

Thank you very much, Angelina! You are very kind (as always!)! :)

Don't worry - you'll lose what you want to lose! Maybe your body just needed to adjust to the exercise schedule when you joined your gym! You'll do a great job, I'm sure!

I'm not doing anything special, believe me! I just do about 40 minutes of aerobics almost every day before work and use dumbells every other day (just for my biceps and shoulders). I eat 3 meals at regular times (as opposed to before Frank moved in with me, when I would remember to eat dinner at like 10:00 PM, and then have something heavy at that time of night!). And that's really it! I just think that after years of gaining and losing weight (ie: in 1987 I lost 42 pounds.....gained it all back plus more by 1995..........in 1998 I lost 48 pounds.....gained it all back plus more........blah, blah, blah. I just hope that these 48 pounds don't "find me" again, too soon! :) ) I've learned how my body "works" and kind of have a sense about what I should and shouldn't be eating and when, and what will "work" in terms of losing weight for me. Thank you for your supportive words!

I didn't even realize that there was any upheaval on the Boards.....probably because I haven't been able to get on to them at all until today, and there is still one thread on which I just can't seem to post successfully. But I don't know what the cause is, either - I hope that everything is all right! And I don't want Dan to move anywhere, either! :(

Well, hope that you're all having a nice day! Take care and I'll talk to you soon! :)
