I've spent the last two months gathering and researching info about the design, details, secrets, easily missed items about Main Street USA in Walt Disney World. I wanted it to be something for the real Disney fan... I'm a art and design professor at a small liberal arts college and I have always wanted to research and document the various lands of the parks.

I wanted something that I could pull up on my phone and stroll through my favorite part of the park and really try to take it all in.

I've posted up Part I. Take a look and let me know what you think.

Part II is coming soon and it will focus on each of the specific shops and buildings.

Enjoy!

Beautiful and comprehensive. Thanks so much for your presentation. Look forward to Part II.

I loved it! I've read a million things about WDW, the architecture, the windows, etc. so I expected more of same but this was unique and your pictures were great! Thank you! I can't wait for Part II!

Thanks for sharing, very interesting. I've subscribed to this thread and am looking forward to part two.

What a fun post! Can't wait to see everything in more detail when I go next week! Is it true the the forced perspective is also lengthwise (ie it seems longer to go into the park than walking out of the park)? I heard that once. That the walk out is meant to seem shorter but the walk in is meant to seem longer to enjoy more?

I'm trying to visualize but I'm not sure if I follow.

I have heard that going in is up hill slightly
and going out is then down hill slightly

I found it fascinating, and written in a way that keeps the interest. Having been at WDW so many times, it's nice to find out the "behind the scenes" information! Lots of work went into this; thanks!

Hey Mambo! Thank you.

This was my sentiment exactly. I've been to WDW's Main Street so many times and I had this feeling that I wanted to know more and understand what the area was really doing.

I'm an artist and professor and I have always noticed the use of color on Main Street. So I started digging and that started the article. I also wanted something that I could carry with me via iPad or phone and scroll through as I walked.

I could sit on a bench on Main Street and be perfectly happy for hours!!

Just wish I could live above one of the shops!! :thumbsup2

Can't wait for Part 2...

Carla
