Everything Rope Drop

Heading down on Saturday and plan to rope drop basically every day of our trip. We’re staying at beach club and using Disney bussing. Do we need to walk over to Yacht Club to ensure we get on a bus in the morning or do they have dedicated bussing for Beach Club? I heard that they pick up at Yacht Club first, which would hose us in the morning…
Not sure about the answer to this. If you don't get an answer here you may wish to check the Transportation board and possibly post your question there.

Walking vs. driving to the HS....

I'm going to be up at 6:45 trying for RotR boarding passes...might as well RD for the first time in my life!

We're staying at YC/BC with a rental car. HS opens at 9. My first plan was to drive there, arriving around 8ish. I'm now wondering if that's the right timing. Questions:
Do Disney resort guests still get into parks 30 minutes early?
Do walkers enter the park before people who drove (or is that just MK)?

If resort guests get in 30 minutes early, I'd want to be at the parking lot at 7:30 or maybe just before 8. But the parking lot doesn't open until 8, so it feels like driving means the soonest you get to the gate is 8:15. Which means I should walk/take a bus.

If the 30 minutes early perk isn't there, should I still walk/buss so I can be at the front of the pack rather than driving?

@Nirek, this is a good idea - lots of knowledgeable and helpful people there.

Another place you can ask is in the Resorts forum on the Yacht and Beach Club thread. I'm not familiar with the thread, but I know on other resort threads I participate in, transportation is often discussed

You will be better served to walk to DHS--you will get in far faster than driving. The 30 minute early entry has not yet begun for resort guests. That said, you will want to be queued up at the security areas well before stated opening. If you read back a few pages, you will see the procedures currently being utilized at each park and plan accordingly.

Thank you! I read the first three and the last three but didn't find anything. I'll try going back farther.

I don't have a recommendation re: drive or other transportation but wanted to mention that bus is not an option.

To get from YC/BC to DHS your options are drive, walk, Friendship Boat or Skyliner from International Gateway.

Forgot your initial question regarding the bus sharing between YC/BC. That seems to be the $64,000 question and changes frequently. While Covid protocols were in place--they did not share--at least at opening time. We haven't been back since May, so I am not sure what the situation is currently. I agree--head over to the YC/BC thread--we are a friendly group and there are lots of just back reports.

The other question that has no certain answer is when the first bus departs from those resorts. I can tell you that one day we were headed to AK with an 8:00 a.m. opening and knowing the park would open between 7 and 7:30. We were queued at the YC bus depot with two other families at 6:00 a.m. Our bus to AK did not arrive (first bus) until 7:10 a.m. which, as you would guess, put us behind the actual opening and led to a lengthy wait at FOP. Luck of the draw I guess. This was during the Covid protocols and I know they were staggering resort bus arrivals at the park in order to keep congestion at the temp screening, security screening and tapstiles at a minimum.

Last week we took the friendship boat from Yatch Club. It’s a short ride, I think 10 minutes. We were in the rope drop line for MMRR at 8:15 and we were very near front.

I’m mostly concerned about getting to AK and also to some extent to MK. With the ability to walk to DHS I can get there no problem!

Those that are currently there or just back,
regarding MK rope drop, is there a huge difference in the time they let TTC people arrive to MK vs CR walkway vs onsite busses?

Wondering which would be better as far as being as close to front of the pack as possible for MK rope drop for offsite guests
1) Ride share to TTC to arrive at parking lot an hour before 9 AM opening?
OR
2) Breakfast at The Wave with a 7:30 AM ressie (9 AM park opening) and walk to MK as soon as we are done eating? If we are fast eaters and have the first reservation time slot of the day is it possible to eat and be done fast enough to walk over as soon as they open the walkway?

We’ve only ever stayed onsite and are rope drop pros so I’m worried about the timing.

I was reading through this thread and thought I'd throw a word of caution out about the idea of eating at the Wave. When we tried that on our last trip (reservation at 7:30), our food didn't end up at our table until a few minutes after 8 (we already knew what we were ordering and ordered as soon as we sat down). So by the time we were walking to Magic Kingdom around 8:20, we were pretty far back as far as the rope dropping crowd is concerned, and didn't get a good "spot" for rope drop. Totally could have been an off day at the Wave - that's the only time we've tried that, and it was too stressful for us to try again lol

Thanks so much for sharing your experience! I think we are going to skip it and take our chances at the TTC. I don’t want the added stress of not knowing when the food will be ready and feeling like Cinderella trying to get out of the ball on time.

I’ve read that rope drop is actually earlier than the posted opening time. Is this the case? If so, are rides open early as well?

When do you think a good time would be to walk from the Contemporary to be at the front of the lines?

Would love for someone to point me to an ongoing thread that speaks to current rope drop experiences. I thought I saw one awhile back, but lost it. TIA!

merged you with Everything Rope Drop thread. Post 1 contains the most current info as we know it.

Any recent experiences rope dropping Slinky or MMRR? One of those is where I would prefer to head first, but I seem to remember a good amount of reports about them going down early on. A bit nervous about "wasting" our rope drop time!

Hello all… I’m planning to Rope Drop MK on 8/24. I’ll be staying at Pop Century. To insure MK arrival as early as possible for the official 9 AM opening (8:15 ish probable opening), I’m considering taking a Lyft/Uber from Pop to the Contemporary, hoping to arrive at the Contemporary no later than 7:45 AM and walk to MK. Will it be possible to get a Lyft/Uber to drop me off at the Contemporary at that time of day or will Ticket & Transportation Center be the closest to MK I’ll be able to get via Lyft/Uber to drop me off? Thanks to all for your help…

I've merged your thread with Everything Rope Drop.

Your best opportunity to arrive from Pop to MK in time for Rope Drop is via bus.

If you choose to use Uber or Lyft you will need to have them drop you off at TTC which means they will be held until those driving can enter the parking lot. Uber/Lyft are not allowed to drop guests off at Contemporary unless they are dining there and have an ADR to show security.

Rope dropped 2 weeks ago for MMRR and had no issues - we even had to wait a bit to get in line because of some pokey family members (every second ticking by just standing there about killed me) and we still were on the ride basically walk on. Our game plan was that if MMRR was down, we'd go to MFSR instead since Slinky wasn't a priority on our list for the day. On our last trip a few months ago, we were able to rope drop MMRR super fast and then go directly to Slinky with very little wait but I think the lines are too crazy now to do that.
