Everything Rope Drop

Thanks for the update. Same happened yesterday so you're right that MK is back to the old style of rope drop. The only park that seems to be doing the modified rope drop is AK and I'm guessing that will change any day also.
Ooooh ok, thank you. I just asked about this on another thread for AK. Hoping it holds out a little longer! (like tomorrow LOL :)). If it changes I'll circle back!

I’m usually more of a lurker than a poster, but I was at MK for rope drop this morning. We were on the first bus from Art of Animation and arrived around 6:50, but they wouldn’t let us start unloading the bus until 7:00. By around 7:15 or so we were through security and waiting to scan in. Once we scanned in they held us at the train station until a little before 7:30. (I have a picture of us walking down Main Street at 7:27.) We were heading for Seven Dwarfs, and they held us again on the path to the right of the castle until almost exactly 8:00.

My guess is that we had about a 15 minute wait for the ride, but there were tons of people behind us who I’m sure waited longer. We were going to try Peter Pan next, but it already had a 45 minute wait, so we continued on to Splash instead. That wait was listed as 15 minutes, and I have a picture of us on the ride at 8:52 AM. From there we split up and went to Big Thunder and Pirates, both with 20 minute waits, and I think that was pretty accurate.

After taking a snack break, we were able to do Dumbo, The Barnstormer, and The Little Mermaid before an 11:00 lunch at The Plaza. We got a lot done, but the morning definitely didn’t go as I expected it would.

Thank you so much for this! It was a massive help in planning our day! :lovestruc

Hi, I thought I would post our experience at MK rope drop yesterday 6/23 in case it helps anyone!

We stayed at the Double Tree in the Disney Springs area and we parked at the TTC. We were in the park by 725 and they held us on the bridge to Tomorrowland until 8:01 am. Then it was a classic mad dash to get to Space Mountain. They had an outdoor rope queue set up which caused a bit of chaos trying to bottleneck the crowd. They had both sides going thank God and we were off the ride by 823. We went to Buzz which was posted 5 minutes and we walked straight on. We rode it a second time and walked on again, albeit a little slower because people were walking slow lol. When we got off our second Buzz it was 840 and we headed over to BTMR. We got in line at 850 and it was posted 5 minutes. While in line they opened more of the queue and the posted time changed to 10 minutes. We waited for the back and were on the ride at 904 and off the ride at 910. We had a quick water break and headed to Pirates which was posted 5 minutes. We got in line at 914, the posted time changed to 10 minutes at 916, then 20 minutes at 919. I didn't record when we got on the ride but we were off at 935, so 21 minutes total from entering the line to getting off the ride. We had a Dole Whip and bathroom break before heading to Philharmagic. We got in line at 1029 with a posted 10 minute wait. I forgot to write down how long we waited and what time we got done but we headed out of the park afterwards. We did some shopping on Main Street and were out of the park by 1130.

Overall the crowds at rope drop weren't bad and the wait times did fluctuate a lot throughout the morning so I highly suggest continually checking the app for line updates. Our plan was to hit the rides that consistently get high wait times right away: Space, Buzz, BTMR, and Pirates and we were able to do all of them by 935 with basically no waits. We definitely could have continued on with the "2nd tier" rides with minimal waits but we were pooped from our HS evening the night before and we're AP FL residents so we can come back whenever. I hope this helps those visiting in the upcoming days! :thumbsup2

Just returned. Every day was a completely different story with RD from the day before. We were at MK the day of the first RD day that went back to how it used to be. Two days before we had jumped at 7:30ish on many rides but then it changed to original RD. We waiting in many areas step by step. we would go thru one area, move to the next area, stop and hold several times until we waited for a long time at the right of the castle in mk for sdmm to rd. They opened it promptly at 8 a.m. from that point. We went straight to sdmm and it was a ten minute wait in line. it was crowded during that hold time and a long wait. We did RD at dhs this week too. 8 a.m. arrival stood and waited in the main area looking at mickey ride. we got in mickey ride right away first group in. another day this week we arrived at 8:15 a.m., they walked us to toy story land for sdd rd where we then were in a 45 minute line to get on the ride. I think my arrival after 8 a.m. made my wait on line a little longer.

This morning, we arrived at AK around 7:15, where we were held at the tapstiles until around 7:30, where we were allowed through. We walked with the crowd directly to FOP and were allowed to queue up. We were off by 8ish. Good luck tomorrow!!

Pop sky liner was running at 615 this morning when I stuck my head out this morning.

Rope dropping AK today. Currently about 8 deep at the parking booth at 710. Will report on rope drop as haven't seen an update since Thursday

This was most likely normal, daily testing. DHS opens at 9 today and Epcot at 11 so it would not have been open for guests at 6:15 in the morning. Normally it opens around 75 mins before the first park opens.

For those that parked at TTC, how do you get to MK? Monorail? Ferry? Are both available?

We (wife, girls 10 & 12) will be going to WDW this August for the first time without FastPass+ which puts us in a new situation that we are not used. Now that we are back to the previous rope drop procedures, what rides are you doing and in what order first thing at the MK to make the most of your day before lunch time?

Thanks!

Idk I think we will probably be heading to splash and BTMRR first. We go this week. Then tour headliners back around counter clockwise. And fill in non headliners during the afternoon. Maybe.

Plan to rope drop Mine train. Then probably splash and BTM. Space doesn’t seem to get as long as these

I agree rope drop mine train, try and get as close to the front as you can riding disney transportation is the best for this because it gives you the advantage of front line tapstile access. They let busses in at 7am and it will put you out close to the security and they won't let the others in from walking until after bus security line is through. Yesterday, we rope dropped but were further back about 20 min wait to get on mine train, but then knocked out pooh, haunted, big thunder, splash and pirates before heading back to our resort around 9:45am. Today we did 7 Dwarves again but were up front, got on the second load and then did haunted (pan says it's a 5 minute at this time, but since it's back to columbia harbor house most mornings we bypass because we dislike the queue) followed by big thunder, splash, big thunder again and then pirates, we then wandered over to tomorrowland but all the lines seemed longer than our patience level so we meandered through some stores, swung by the egg roll cart and walked to grand floridian to catch a bus back to hollywood and then skyline back to Riviera. We were back in our room by 11:30am.

Rope drop yesterday (Sunday) at MK. Bus from CBR arrived just after 7. Through tapstiles at 7:15. Held until 8 AM before we could proceed to 7DMT.

Today at DHS. Skyliner from CBR began boarding around 7:45. We boarded at about 7:55 and were at DHS just as they were opening bag check at little after 8. Got through tapstiles immediately, but held at end of Hollywood Blvd before being allowed to proceed to SDD at 7:30.

Trying DAK tomorrow and hoping they are still running FOP early.

Our RD experiences this week - apologies if I posted these already here (I think I put them in the Here Now thread?)

MK 6/20 - Tollbooth opened at 7 a.m. Modified still going on where everyone walked to wherever they wanted to go - we drove and tapped in at 7:20ish into the park, walked onto BTMR

AK 6/24 - Parking lot opened at 7 a.m. at the tollbooth. Modified entry and tapped in at 7:15 when park opened to tap in, walked straight into Pandora, and got in a moving line

DHS 6/25 - Parking lot opened at 8 a.m. (different from February when it was 8:15). It was a traditional rope drop for an 8 a.m. open, but we were allowed to proceed to Galaxy's Edge at roughly 7:30. We were in line for Smuggler's and were early enough to go into the FP entrance when our BG6 was called, so we ditched and went to RoTR. We prob could have done both in the first hour but didn't want to risk being late for our BG.

MK 6/26 - traditional rope drop back and it dropped at 8 a.m. for both Frontierland (via bridge into Liberty Square) and Tomorrowland (our group had split up in the morning). In Frontierland, there was a second rope at the entrances and a line of CMs deliberately and slowly walked the crowd back to Splash and BTMR - that was awesome IMO, really kept things orderly and less stressful.

Rope drop today at DAK. We got a bus from CBR at about 6:45. The bus got stuck in a minor traffic jam approaching the park because it looked like cars being held at the parking booths had backed up into all lanes on Osceola Parkway, preventing the bus from getting to the bus entrance just down the road.

Despite that, our bus must have been one of the first to arrive. We approached the bag check just as they were letting people in and we were waved into a second lane had nobody waiting. There was just a small handful of people at the other bag check. So, we were at the very front of the line at one of the tapstiles as hundreds and hundreds of others arrived. We were let in about 7:15 and we walked briskly toward Pandora as a few dozen others who were jogging or flat out running passed us. The group was held near the entrance to Pandora, and released to the ride at about 7:35. Cast members led the group to the FOP entrance to minimize more running and jockeying for position. We were in the third group to board and got off the ride a little after 8. At that point the FOP line snaked up the path to Africa and back and then all the way back to the Starbucks.
