Everything Park Reservations - Please Read Post 1

We have six day date based tickets from August 12 until the 20th should we make reservations for the parks we want to visit

No park hopping
We arrive Sunday the 11th
The plan is Monday the 12th AK
Tuesday the 13th MK
Thursday the 15th MK
Friday the 16th Epcot
Sunday the 18th HS
Monday the 19th Epcot

We depart Tuesday the 20th

I had a question about post #1, where it says GotG VQ returns are valid after being called until park close. Does anyone know if that's still true? Thanks

Yes that is still the case with Guardians. You may return anytime from when your VQ is called until park close.

It is not for Tron or Tiana. Those attractions you must return within the window.

I have two 6 day base tickets with no expiration date I purchased back in 2018 prior to the date based tickets. Does this mean I have to make park reservations? We are looking to go in June 2025 and so much has changed, I'm at a total lost on how to plan the trip.

As far as I know, if you have old undated tickets, you need a park reservation.

Have they ended park reservations? The schedule doesn't allow me to click on any date past August 6th?

For date based tickets (purchased with a package or individually with a start date selected) yes.

Post 1 shares which tickets (APs and some others) still require a park reservation.

How do park reservations work if you have date based tickets with a start date but upgrade to an AP during your trip? Will you be required to book a park reservation the day you upgrade?

Not a question but a warning that luckily doesn't apply to many people. If you purchase an Annual Pass voucher, you are told you have 365 days to activate it. If you activate it at the very end, they seem to have no work around to the fact you can only make park passes 365 days from when you bought it, until you activate it. I activated mine 363 days later, and it wouldn't let me make park reservations for the last 5 days of my trip. The 6 of my party that have date based tickets kept their Lightning lane selections, but it deleted those of the 3 of us with APs without even a warning. I called and was told guest services would be able to match them up with the other 6 people in the party when I got here. But by and large they (guest services) aren't able to do that on the high demand attractions. Have talked to 4 people so far. This is effectively the 'policy' and I'm sure I wont be the only person to encounter this. Its unacceptable.

I am terribly confused and really don't have time to read through this whole thread. I read the first post and the last couple pages and am just more confused! We haven't been to WDW since fall of 2022. We let our AP's expire after that trip. We are going to be going in Mid-October this year so I need to figure out tickets (and lightning lanes, etc.) pretty quickly. DH & I are thinking of getting AP's again and planning another trip (probably February) to make it worthwhile. DS(25yo) will most likely get a date-based ticket for 8 or 9 days (depends on if he decides to spend a day at Universal or not). We will be staying at Caribbean Beach.

I understand that DS won't need any park reservations since he'll have a date-based ticket.
DH & I will need park reservations if we decide to get AP's. Since we will be staying at a WDW resort, will we be able to make reservations for our entire trip or will we be limited to the number of reservations AP's have (I think that's 5?). Since our trip is for 9 full days, having only 5 reservations and gambling we could get the others once we are there and using them up seems a little crazy. I'm pretty certain that back in 2022 we could make reservations for the length of our resort stay. I don't see anything in the first post about this.

Finally, I assume we would need park reservations first in order to purchase the new lightning lane options and select attractions in advance? It seems like they are asking AP holders to go through a lot of hoops to get anything planned!

This would certainly be easier if we just purchased date-based tickets for all 3 of us. However, if we are making at least 2 trips within the year (the 9-days already booked for October and then another trip this winter) the AP still is cheaper. It also leaves the option open for another tip next fall in late September or early October.

You can still make reservations for the length of your resort stay (even as an AP). Just be sure you make them under the "Annual Passholders with a Hotel Reservation" bucket (that should be the same as in 2022).

I have an AP voucher that I bought last year and won’t be using until Jan 2025.
1)Since it will be expired, what is the process for activating it?
2) I assume it will need to be activated before I make park reservations. Can it be activated online via MDE or do I have to wait until I use it to enter the park?
3) If I can enter it in MDE in order to make park res, will the renewal date be 1 year from entering it into MDE or 1 year from going thru the gate?

Thanks for anyone who can address this!

If the voucher is more than one year old when you're ready to activate it (IOW, you bought it before January 2024), you will need to buy a new AP. The voucher you have will convert to a credit that you can apply to the cost of the new AP.

The year for using an AP starts from the first day the AP is used to enter a park. If the AP is renewed, the new year begins the day the old AP expired.

ETA - for more detailed answers to your questions, you might want to post on the Ticket sticky at https://www.disboards.com/threads/t...your-ticket-questions-to-this-thread.3570721/.

We are going to to stay at Pop Century from 11/30-12/08. We decided to extend our vacation after, but Pop was no longer available.
So we're going to stay off-site for 2 nights and extend our tickets for 8 days to 10 day tickets.

Will I need a reservation for those last 2 days?
