Just the usual Memorial Weekend stuff, graduation parties and hanging by the pool, weather permitting. :cool1:

I just found this thread! What a great group of people!! I am from Soo, Ontario and have spent much of my life in Soo, MI and travelling through your GREAT state to southern Ontario. Go Blue!

We'll be hanging in the backyard for most of the weekend for Mem. Day. We live on a small lake and we usually have a neighborhood party on Sunday to kick off summer. Kids will swim if the weather stays nice.

On behalf on most Ohioians I think if you asked nicely this time we would give you Toledo for free.....:rolleyes1

We will be spending our wonderful Memorial day weekend in beautiful Canton for the Canton Cup soccer tourney!

I don't know how I missed posting on this thread all this time. Hello Michigan. ;)
I live just north of Grand Rapids.
Everyone loving the heat wave? This just might cure me of all those urges to move to Florida.

We live in Zeeland and are enjoying the warmth too. Especially the dog since she gets to swim in the lake in our backyard. But now I need to go plant some flowers and I'm thinking I might wait until after dinner when it cools down some.

So how was everyone's weekend?

We went to Durand Michigan to Walnut Hills campground... My step mom has a place up there. There was 11 of us :scared1: There was a really nice man made beach. We also went on Saturday to Michigan Adventures.. The place was dead.. It was bascally walk on to every ride. That includes the Big roller coasters. Even the water park section was hardly a wait.

Here are 2 of my kids with Snoopy

Here is the one roller coaster when we went in..

I'll post more later when I upload them.

How was everyone else's weekend?

Our weekend was fantastic and would have been downright perfect had it not rained yesterday afternoon. I really think this has to have been one of the nicest Memorial Weekends (weather-wise) I have spent in MI since I married and moved here in 1981. :thumbsup2

We're never been to Michigan Adventure, but I've spent my fair share of time at Cedar Point. How is it in comparison?

Imo its half the size but its cheaper and it includes the waterpark. A lot less crowded.. it has its UPS and downs. We like it. Something different if your in the area but not worth the trip just for that.

You are so right about this being the best memorial day in forever...

Yeah, that about sums it up, although we did make a special trip a few times just to stay overnight to have two days at the park. When the kids were a bit younger it was more fun than Cedar Point; the rides are smaller but so are the lines, and with little kids the big thrills at CP weren't much of a draw anyway. Now that my olders are 12 & 8 and into coasters they've "graduated" to Cedar Point but 4-5 years ago Michigan Adventure was perfect!

Thats exactly it too. I have a 12, 7, and 5 yo.. So MA works good for the little ones.. Lots more for them to ride there.
