2 days ago went to take pictures on our camera .. and it would not turn on....( yes we replaced the batteries :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:)

now yesterday during out Memorial day party.. my oven decided to stop working while heating up appetizers.... than some kids decided to heard into the basement to play wii... and our big screen tv :happytv: won't turn on......

at least they are no items that HAVE TO BE replaced..... even the oven we can wait till after summer...

Same here!!! Grill broke and within 2 days our tv broke for our bedroom and both of my dds tvs broke for their bedrooms too....whats going to happen today???

 ditto:
started about 2 months ago, oven quit working (new stove), and one of our cars is down, DH hasn't had time to go get a part for it. Then just in the last two weeks the lawn mower motor blew up (had to buy a new "used" mower), weed eater wouldn't work (DH sorta fixed it but only he can run it now), one of our dogs had something wrong with her eye (pretty sure it was a bee sting, but it was on the eye that just had surgery beginning of the year so it was a short panic), my van over heated (still checking on this one), and we're having on going issues with a bathtub leak! Must be something in the air :upsidedow

oh, jeeeez.. I hate when that happens!

Just throwin some sympathy in. :)

Oh I hear you!!!! It's been one thing after another around here. Our new fridge keeps breaking down. I'm so sick of repairmen in and out of our house. Why won't they just give us a new one???? Oh yea - they're waiting for the warranty to run out. :(

Just yesterday, a HUGE (we're talking HUGE!!!) tree fell in our back yard. Knocked down power wires to the house. Luckily, only a few things need to be repaired/replaced, but to get the tree out of here, it'll be expensive!!

Ack.

oh my. I feel for you.

A couple of years ago our appliances were hanging by a thread. They were all over 20 years old and came with the house. The fridge and oven were almost not working and then we got a letter in the mail saying that our dishwasher was recalled due to FIRE caused by faulty wiring.

We yanked the dishwasher out and low and behold, the wiring was thread barren and looked like it had burn marks on it!

We immediately stopped using it.

So, we had to replace all 3 at once. Thankfully we found a huge sale of 25% off and then an additional 25% off if you purchased 3 major appliances at once. So, we ended up getting about 40% off total, but it was still thousands of dollars.

Our laptop died last year. We finally replaced it this year.

One of our cameras has some issues with over-exposure. Thankfully it is a camera we had gotten many years ago so it was quite out dated anyway. We have replaced it now with a second hand camera as it was for my son (when we upgraded we gave it to him.)

But things just aren't made to last like they used to.

Dawn

I'm right there with ya!!

In the past week, we've had not one but TWO lawnmowers stop working (push mower and riding mower), our dryer heating element went out, and something went wrong with the draining of the bathtub because DH found a small flood in our (finished!) basement under the bathroom. We set up a new pool for the kids this past week. Its the kind with the inflatable top ring...and our cat got outside and jumped onto the ring and put holes into it with his claws. At least we can easily patch it though!

I swear there is some cosmic anomaly going on that is causing all of this stuff to happen to people lately! :confused3

I feel for you! My daughter drove into the garage door. She mixed up the gas and brake. :rotfl: Had to get a new one. Dishwasher took a dive. Computer needed fixing. My son's car needed $1200.00 worth of work. ugh... I 'm done with this as well. My husband says it's a poltergeist.

for us this past week (getting ready for company of course):

1. dryer
2. bathtub
3. camera
4. dishwasher

op here......we'll at least I'm in good company....
I had forgotten to add that our dishwasher is also kaput.... decided not to replace it when it broke a few months back...
I wonder how long I can go without an oven... about 15 years ago... I actually was able to put off replacing the oven for 2 years... It amazing the stuff you can make in a toaster oven, crockpot and microwave....

Ladies and Gentlemen,
It's called Murphy's law. Usually happens right at the point when you are caught up with your bills and finally got a few bucks in the bank. Then WHAM!! every known appliance you have will suddenly break. :rotfl:

And it is never just one, when it rains it pours...
Mine flood was a few years ago, washer went, then dryer, then refrigerator. Next came the culture shock of the price of a new one. :scared1:

for me, it's when I've just finished paying for a vacation - you know, money that didn't have to be spent - just to make me feel even more guilty about spending money on something that wasn't necessary!

Add me to the poltergeist list!

1. Front and back brakes and rotors on car 1
2. A/C broke on car 1
3. 4 new tires on car 2
4. stove broke (yet to be replaced, works intermittently)

For us, it was my a/c last year, rotors and breaks on one car, and then our washer just died.

Things are definitely not made like they used to be nowadays. I think I remember reading that the normal lifespan is around 7 to 10 years. Ugh.
