Everything but Disney - Thursday 20th October 2011 - Day 7 - Universal Studios + Steak n Shake

We had breakfast in the room then made it to Universal for 9.30am. Parking was $15. It was busier than earlier in the week.Crowds in Universal were ok – waited about 10 mins for Shrek and the Simpsons. 5 mins for Jaws and MIB a walk on.

DD and DH met Donkey – everyone else in the line was from Scotland which donkey joked about.

I got the best score in MIB!!! Pushed the red button at the right time at the end. It’s been a family joke about how DH once beat me with his left hand (he did 2 zappers, I did one and he still beat me by lots) my victory has not been mentioned since!

I’d not made sandwiches as we had eaten in the room for breakfast and the plan was to buy lunch. We ended up paying $25 for 3 hot dogs and fries plus a soda refill for our mug. Not good and I had allergic reaction – itchy. I used to get it sometimes when I was a lot younger if I ate processed meat – haven’t had it for years at home. I guess it is probably an allergy to an additive now banned by the EU but not in the USA – wont be having a hotdog again!

Refills were 79c plus tax – refill mug was ok to be used in Universal and Islands of adventure. We had a wander around the New York bit and DH spotted Ben and Jerry’s. We shared a massive sundae which made up for the rubbish lunch (next time will just have the ice cream!) Think it was about $7.

We took DD on twister which she took very seriously and keeps asking about twisters – saw a bit of the blues brother show and went over to Beetlejuice. DH spied someone with a corndog and was a man on a mission.

I lined up for a drink refill before the show and they had corndogs so I got him one and he was happy.Beetlejuice show was good as usual – a little risqué .

We took DD to see the animal actors show which wasn’t a patch on Seaworld’s pets ahoy but DD enjoyed it especially the pig and then she had a play in fievel’s playland and a couple of turns on the woody woodpecker coaster.

We left at park closing at 5- I4 ‘home’ was moving very slowly. We got changed and ended up at steak and shake on state road 535 near the hotel for tea. I wasn’t feeling brilliant due to the hot dog earlier. Cost $25 plus tip. I had a turkey club, DH a patty melt, DD a kids meal, milkshake, 2 soda’s and some onion rings which were very good.

We went down to Walmart on the 535 for a bit of food shopping and some allergy pills. It is the nearest to disney – has a big stack of $15 strollers, $15 car seats, polystyrene coolers etc.Anna went to bed 9.40pm and us not much later. It was cool today – our coldest day. High was supposed to be 70’s but it was windy. In the morning at Universal most people had hoodys on (we’d left them in the car as I thought it would warm up – it did but not until midday or so) so we froze in the morning.

Some nice photos here :thumbsup2
I find listening to Donkey more enjoyable than the Shrek ride
B&J ice cream.......:cloud9:
Pity about the food reaction, hope you are better for our next instalment :goodvibes

Funny that your not very good lunch and very nice dinner were the same price.
