Disneyland-related miscellany:

After the Anaheim Ducks drafted a player named McQueen in the first round of the NHL draft last night, they flew him from LA to Anaheim in a helicopter and he had a meet-n-greet with Lightning McQueen at DCA. (They also had a couple stars from The Mighty Ducks announce the selection.)

Love this. Went to see a Ducks game on my trip to LA earlier this year and it was a lifetime dream come true

We just watched a fun little documentary about the founding of the Ducks that is available on ESPN/Disney+ right now.

I want to take you back to a time of elegance and wonder…the year was 1988, and on June 28, Disney’s luxurious Grand Floridian Hotel opened.

A sprawling Victorian inspired complex of bright white buildings topped with red conical spires, the hotel included my personal favorite restaurant, the Grand View Tea Room. The refined eatery served an upscale tea service, featuring Twinings tea, fresh scones, and sweet pastries. The tea room was tiny seating less than 30 people, and soon became a hard to get reservation.

Currently the tea room is closed while the hotel lobby undergoes a renovation. This isn’t the first big change for the Grand Floridan which has seen the orchestra on the second floor swapped for a swanky bar and a number of pool and building renovation. Rooms were recently all redecorated, and not so long ago, and they added an important walk way from the resort to the Magic Kingdom. That walk way would be a perfect way to get in some exercise minutes, like these color changers!

Piglet1979, ClappyClaps, and Alicatt all made it to 100% and kept going! Congrats to our three purple folks!!!

Twilight Sparkle and I are close on their heels at 90%, we're both green!

Sophy1996 and ShannyMcB are officially in the blue - at more than 75% each!

And PollyannaMom blew past 50%, hitting Yellow at 68%!

As a whole the team has hit 86% - We're blue too!

Just a few more days to get in those minutes, and then it will be time for Twilight Sparkle to take over in July. I can't wait to see what she has in store for us!

I'm sad the tea room hasn't opened back up. I hope it does after this refurb. The Cake Bake Shop's afternoon tea is wonderful, but I think I still prefer tea at the Grand Floridian.
