Everyone's Thoughts on At World's End...

We saw it last night and loved it. We'll most likely go see it again (or at least I will..lol) Next time I'll stay for the credits though. It was just too late by the time it was over last night and I still had to get up early for work this morning.

Just got back from a screening at the El Capitan. The movie was really hard to follow and way too long, but I enjoyed it immensely. Also saw Jamie Lee Curtis in the audience.

Not sure if they have this at every screening, but prior to the show, the has a guy play a bunch of Disney tunes on the El Capital Wulitzer (it was dressed up to look like they organ in the movie). Then there was a brief light/musical introduction to the movie, complete with confetti).

Down in the basement of the theatre are a bunch of costumes & props from the movie, including the peanut(lol). So if anyone's in the LA area, it's definitely worth a look.

OK, so what happened after the credits? I had to pick the kids up dang it...

Ok, SPOILER ALERT!! Don't read if you don't want to know!

After the credits, they flash to a bluff overlooking the ocean where you see a 10ish year old boy and Elizabeth walking toward the end of the bluff. He is singing the pirate song they were singing at the beginning of the movie. They watch as the sun sets and then the green light thing happen. Then they flash to the horizon where you see Will on his ship sailing toward them.

I liked it. Gave me some closure for poor Elizabeth.

DH and I just got back from seeing it. Aside from the WORST movie viewing experience possible (screaming toddlers with parents who refused to remove them, lady next to me CONSTANTLY commenting on EVERYTHING Jack did!) we really liked it.

We missed some important conversations due to above mentioned issues (between Sao Feng and Elizabeth, etc.) but overall we liked the movie. I thought some scenes felt dragged out, but it kept my interest. I really liked the "plugs" for the ride...but could NOT figure out why they blacked out the screen and played about 30 seconds of the ride.:confused3

I really hope they do another one...they totally left it open and I like them so much I could really go for more Will Turner!!! :woohoo: :cool1:

I will have to see it again and again to fully "get" the plot and such but I got the overall picture and it was really good :cloud9: :goodvibes

The little scene-let at the end of the credits was cool too, and another shot of Will to end the movie...OH YEAH! :flower3:

OH MY GOSH! I READ SOME OF THE REVIEWS BEFORE I WENT TODAY BUT NOT THE REAL DETAILED ONES. YOU MAY THINK THAT 3 HOURS IS A LONG TIME BUT NOT THIS MOVIE! GO, GO, GO! THERE ARE A LOT OF SURPRISES ALONG THE WAY AND THERE ARE A LOT OF UNEXPECTED TWISTS AND TURNS. KEEP YOUR HEART AND MIND OPEN AND IT WILL BE FAIR SEAS AHEAD...YO HO! DON'T FORGET TO STAY PAST THE CREDITS FOR A LOVELY SURPRISE!pirate: pirate: pirate:

I really enjoyed the movie. I may have lowered my expectations a bit after the disappointments of Shrek 3 and Spidey 3, but this one did not disappoint me. It was great to see Jack and Will again.

Of course I cried like a baby.

I did not bring my 5 year old. I think it was the right decision. She's seen 1 and 2 on video and is not scared by them, but they are less intense on video. I also think 3 is very confusing and long. I was trying to explain the plot to her and it was tough to do.

Loved, loved the segment where we heard the ride soundtrack.

I thought Jack was hilarious.

Pirates 1 is stil my favorite, but 2 and 3 are still very good IMO.

I am off to see 3 this morning..I am opening my mind to liking it..I have liked Johnny Depp for years..I didn't become a "he's hot" fan after Pirates 1..That being said..I also do not base my like of a movie on the hot stars in it..The film has to have substance....and.. that extra something that sets it apart for other films...(..not just violence or special effects)
I intensely disliked the second Pirates..I think in part.. because I was expecting so much more from it...based on my love of the first film..but..it lacked the soul of the first film..and made up for it in special effects and a plot that took away from the whole ride theme....Johnny went from being a scoundral..a rakish pirate..to a cartoonish baffoon...
I am hoping this film can can gain a bit of the magic the first one left... back for me...

I needed a drink after the 3 hour emotional roller coaster!!!

I laughed, I cheered, I cried, I cried again.

The references to the ride are soooo much better then the other 2. And the interplay between the old characters from 1&2 combined at soooo many levels is quite enchanting this time. New characters are ok too and make the story flow.

I felt this one really makes the 3 movies come together as a trilogy all on its own and even though I previously thought POTC 1 would always stand on its own, after 3 I do not think so anymore.

I definitely think Disney has found its Star Wars........

We were there last night for the 11:40 showing and Jerry Bruckheimer, Gore Verbinski and two of the writers were there!

Guess they want to see how the audiences like the movie.

I love the El Capitan - it's the only place to see Disney movies!

I liked it but it did get confusing at times and other times it was hard to understand what they were saying. But with Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom, just looking at them makes up for that! :thumbsup2

Okay..I just got back and I have to say I liked 3 much better than 2..I think 1 is still the best..but 3 has redeemed the trilogy to me...

I didn't have a problem following the plot..in fact..it really cleared up a lot of unanswered questions I had from 2

Wow. I loved the movie...until the end. I'm a person who needs a happy ending, and this wasn't it for me. At all. I was wanting a reunion of DJ & Calypso and more "togetherness" for Will & Elizabeth. :sad1:

Did you stay for the part after the credits? It helped with the ending, for me, at least.

I tried to tell the people sitting next to me to stay until the credits ran..but the woman said.."what..will a monkey come out and scare me? No, thanks.." lol

I'm very sad to say but I was quite disappointed. I will admit, I didn't see PotC at ALL until this past January, then I bought the DVD and have seen it about 30 times since...and I have DMC and have seen that several times, as well. I had been looking forward to this for SO long but I just found it tiresome. :confused3

Insert side note: I wouldn't take any child until at least age 9, possibly 10 - I am quite conservative. It's just too dark and more gory and violent than the previous two. Not to mention the previews supposedly rated "for all ages" beforehand, yikes!

I will repeat how I summed it up on another board: deceit, tentacles, rain, swordfights, swordfights in the rain, tentacles in the rain, tentacles in swordfights, a hokey profession of love and ensuing marriage during swordfights IN the rain.

The best part was when Jack was hallucinating many of himself on the ship in Davy Jones's Locker. I'd volunteer to go to the locker, LOL! :rotfl2:

I know I'm probably in a minority so don't flame me, I just didn't care for it as much as I was expecting to. My DH, on the other hand, LOVED it and ranked it right up there with his favorite Star Wars whichever movie, I can't remember. I don't see it, myself.
