I am looking at hotels for 2008 and I am wondering what everyone likes.. I am thinking of staying at 2 hotels..1 week at a Disney deluxe but not the GF.
what your choice be.. I quite like the look of the animal kingdom lodge..DD would just love it.

I've only stayed at the ASMo and I loved it, I did look at the AKL but was disappointed by it when I got there, I did love the Poly and the Wilderness though, so I'd choose one of those (if I could afford it lol)

We originally fancied the AKL but after looking at the travelling times (we will be relying on the on site transport) felt it was a bit isolated so we have now picked the Yacht club. All the hotels are near Epcot and the Studios which we feel we will make most use of, plus Disneyboard walk etc. It's a personal choice but read as much as you can about it the pros and cons. :surfweb:

I'd stay at the Wilderness Lodge for the hotel and Beach Club for the location - but then we do own DVC points at both :cool1: . We've also stayed at the Poly and it was great sitting on the beach watching the fireworks.

We love the AKL, went back last year, just for a meal, after staying there in 2004 and it felt like coming home! Boma's is fab for brekkie, the swimming pool is great, the location is wonderful and so quick to gwt anywhere by cart or dedicated WDW bus. 'We will be back', as Arnie says :teeth:
Last year we stayed at the Yacht Club which is a lovely resort and being as we love Epcot and The Studios so much was ideal and the Boardwalk was great to go across to for a wander or dinner :) Both restaurants there were very good.

Claire ;)

A toughie this one....ok, if I was going to spend more time at MK, then I would go for the Poly. If I was spreading my time more evenly between parks, then I would go for Beach Club.

Have fun choosing,
Claire xx

I loved All Stars Movies, its basic but thats all you need. You never spend anytime in the room anyway as your always at the parks etc and we found it very family friendly and relaxing :thumbsup2

If you want to do disney on the cheap I strongly suggest any All star hotel... though I personally love the movies!!! :cheer2:

:sunny: Hi

I'd stay at any of the hotels in the boardwalk area. As the saying goes "location, location, location". :)

You'll have a great time wherever you pick :goodvibes

We've stayed at ASMo and AKL and I have to say that you can't beat ASMo for the Disney atmosphere.

AKL is beautiful and peaceful and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay but we'll be back at ASMo the next time. AKL was just too quiet :teeth:

You also cannot beat the value for money of the All Stars Resorts. The only real difference in service I could see between AKL and ASMo was the fact that AKL has 2 restaurants and someone to carry your bags when you arrive and when you leave.

Edie :)

I have also stayed at ASMo and AKL and I agree ASMo is good value for money, but the only difference is two resturants and someone to carry your bags?
Are you serious?

Well I know you said NOT GF but that is my favourite hotel. But if you're looking for location, then it has to be Beach Club - so close to Epcot, my fav park - we like it there a LOT.

Hi

ASMo is much better than ASP, but the problem we found was transportation we went last October and a few parks shared one bus stop for all three All Star hotels and each bus would stop off at all 3. Not only was there a long wait after the park closes, you had to wait for another bus if you could not sit down (having 3 kids we needed at least 2 seats) we would have to wait for a further 15-20 mins for the next bus and then stopping at each All Star Hotels. Lucky for us for our twin boys are too old for us to stay there so we have to look elsewhere. I know have an excuse to give dh to book the Poly next yr.

If you dont mind cheap then All Star Movies is recommended. Its a lovely hotel with lovely staff. Definately recommended.

Next time we are booking Poly for 3 nights next yr. Cant wait :woohoo:

I'm too poor for anything but All Stars, but I did a spot of resort hopping (or resort-hoping !) :rotfl: last time I went and if money is no object please adopt me-sorry, don't know how that slipped out-then Wilderness Lodge looks amazing, although I understand its a pig to get to without a car. Failing that then Boardwalk was pretty great too and within walking distance of 2 parks, so you don't need to feel guilt about all that junk you eat....

I would like to stay in GF, WL, POLY, beach club, dolphin, Swan............. must do the lottery.......CRS,POR, PORFQ, etc, etc

We absolutely loved All Star Movies, but my favourite so far has to be the Boardwalk. The location is second to none and the atmosphere of the Boardwalk itself can't be beaten :)

I also really liked AKL and did not find it any more isolated than any of the other WDW hotels that aren't connected via walkway or monorail to a park. To be honest, when you're on a bus an extra 5 minutes doesn't make that much difference to me :)

We've never stayed onsite at WDW but have visited Animal Kingdom Lodge & intend to stay there sometime. It's brilliant & would be my 1st choice

Polynesian Resort for me. I've mentioned the benefits of it numerous times in other threads, so have just copied and pasted the quote below which I wrote a few weeks ago!

There are a few factors to consider - the Polynesian is in the process of having all of its standard room renovated, complete with plasma televisions and all new furnishings. It's been a few years since the GF last had a major room renovation. Furthermore, the Polynesian offers the largest rooms on Disney property (larger than the GF rooms) if you request a room in one of the newer longhouses. If view is important to you, the Polynesian also wins hands down. The Polynesian offers a "Magic Kingdom" view category - these rooms have sensational, direct, head-on views of the Magic Kingdom and Cinderella Castle. If you request a ground floor room, you will have direct access to the beach too.

The Polynesian also has the best resort transportation. You can walk to the TTC in under 5 minutes - where you can catch the express monorail to EPCOT. From the GF it is necessary to take the monorail to the TTC and then switch.

Which theme appeals to you most? At Christmas time we prefer the GF, but throughout the rest of the year the Polynesian's tropical theming is great.

The one downside to the Polynesian is the dining, which isn't particularly great. However, there is a short pathway which leads to the GF so it is easy to make use of the restaurants there. It is also on the monorail for easy access to the Contemporary and MK.
