You know who you are . . .

I'm talking about those of you who leave the bedspreads right out on the bed for your whole stay . . . those of you who have even been known to sit on the bedspread . . . or even let you children play on the made up bed . . .

or am I the only one?

Yes, I know how often they are washed (or not washed as the case may be) and I'm aware of all the crud that is probably on them - but if I can't see it, it honestly doesn't bother me. (And, no, I don't think we've ever gotten sick on any of our many, many trips to WDW or anywhere else.)

I never thought of myself as a real risk taker before - but now I see that I am! I may try bungee jumping next!!

Anybody out there care to join me in my confession of insanity?

Disclaimer: This thread is not meant in any way to make fun of people who are bedspread phobic. I do understand that their fear is justified. I am simply looking for other germ wallowers like myself with whom I can share a common bond.

Here, here! I do wish they were washed more often but oh well. The human body is engineered to fight off lots of germs, no one I know has ever gotten sick from a bedspread. I throw caution to the wind, danger is my middle name! Look out bedspread germs here I come armed with my own germ fighting defenses! But seriously, I'd only worry if my bedding had some visible crud on it or if anyone in my family were in poor health.

OK, I have to admit I am guilty.....I just don't even think about it. You can't. I have an obcession with interior decorating and the rooms just don't look good without the bedspreads. :flower: I need it to look good - especially on vacation!!! I rarely make our own beds at home!

I make sure my kids wash their hands big time after a day out, and we use wipes and stuff like that periodically throughout the day when we're out, but I like to think of our room as our haven. Not a scary, germy, disgusting place. I do admit that I bring Dixie cups to use in the room so that we don't use the glasses. I saw on the View that when resorts are busy,(not specifically WDW) these glasses sometimes don't get changed out or washed very well. That grosses me out, not the bedspreads.

Anyway, that said - someone in our family almost always gets sick with the stomach flu......maybe there is something to putting the comforters away and not using them. :confused3 I still refuse, though.

Add me to the list! I used to make my family crazy not letting them touch the bedspreads. It got to be so much work. I was exhausted at the end of the week. So now I am less crazy about it, not thrilled, but not crazy. My family is much happier.

We never think about the bedspreads. I guess I should be a little concerned, but it just never bothered me. Now we have the camper and I will be in charge of the bedspreads-or lack thereof!

If I can go to the grocery store and Walmart several times a week and touch those cart handles, I'm not going to let a bedspread bother me. :rotfl: :rotfl:

Count me as another one. However, I don't use the spread at night, I would ask for another blanket rather than put the spread near my face. But I do lie on the bed and watch TV when I check in.
I did have to call POP once and ask for the spread to be changed because when I sat down the bed was sticky like the kids before me had laid down their lollipop on it. I insisted they change the sheets too because they looked like they hadn't been changed, only straightened. They were very wrinkled, not like fresh sheets look. The staff was mad at me but tough, I did give them $5 for their troubles. Peggie

Another proud member of the "I don't worry about it crowd". Of course I believe in being clean and safe but if you let yourself worry all of the time about hidden germs then your quality of life suffers. You can drive yourself crazy obsessing about stuff like this. It's Disney and for a short magical time you should be able to leave the real world behind. Use your common sense and be safe but just don't over do it. Have fun and enjoy your life because the end comes far too quick for all of us.

I do usually just fold it over, but I have layed across hotel bedspreads before too.

The tv remote is another place germs lurk, but I always forget to bring a baby wipe and wipe it off.

I never even considered germs on a bedspread. I didn't realize there were people (besides Howard Hughes) that were so concerned with germs.

When we were there in January, we got on the elavator to go to CRT with a family that had a DD 5 or so. The CM said to her, 'push the 2 button' The mother literally screamed 'no, don't touch that'. We were all taken aback and the CM said 'don't want her to get used to pushing elevator button, huh' and the mother said 'do you know how many people have touched that button and how may germs are on it'? The dad said 'she's a little obsessive' I'm sure she takes the bedspeard off and calls for a clean blanket. :rotfl:

I never even thought much about it....UNTIL PEOPLE POSTED THINGS HERE!!! :p

Just thinking about it again today, that's why I posted my thread on the board about washing it...because I was curious who had, not because I'm a germ freak.

When you are a teacher...the classroom and school are your germ battle fields!!!

I'm in the "I never think about it club". To the mom who didn't want her child touching the elevator button - how do you expect them to fight off germs if you don't expose them? It's the body's way of building immunity.

I love the bedspreads! AND, I use them at night when I sleep! Yes, I know I might as well be licking the floor of a public restroom, but I guess I'm just a risk taker. I'm still waiting for that Fear Factor bedspread episode, but I haven't seen it yet.

Add me to the list! I couldn't care less and have never really even thought about it. There are nasty little germs everywhere, and unless you are willing to live in a bubble you are gonna get some on ya!! You are on vacation...kick back and enjoy...I don't think I have ever read an obituary that read "Died from nasty germs she picked up while lying on a hotel bedspread"!!! :rotfl: Think about all the little nasty ones you pick up everytime you touch a doorknob, pull out a chair to sit on in a restaurant, pick up a souvie that was just laid down by a little one that first wiped their running nose or hold the pen that 150 people used before you to sign your check in receipt... :scratchin

Count me in! I don't take off the bedspread and have used it many a time.

The only thing I won't do is use someone elses toothbrush.

I never really think about it and I think the bed looks better with the bedspreads on. Of course I am not a neat freak in my house and I bet you could even find some germs here so what difference does it make. ;) I am on vacation and the bedspreads are just not something I want to think about. :)
