Everyone using ME May 5th - May 17th - Please Read

We fly out next Thursday and are using ME for our return on May 8th. I called CRO because we have not received our luggage tags or final info. I was told that as of 10:30 a.m. today, a note was placed on my reservation that everyone who is using ME May 5th - May 17th will be sent their info today via Fed Express. We can expect them to arrive on Monday. This is the most detailed info I have received from them yet.

Won't the Fed Ex people feel special when we all rush to the door to greet them!!!

I'm leaving the 10th of May, DH the 11th, both of using ME.. and every day I''ve been checking my mailbox hoping to find that envelope in there.
Somehow, getting those tags is going to make me feel like it's almost time to leave.... now I'll be waiting for that truck.....

Are you flying on one of the "participating" airlines? If you're not, then you'll have no need for special DME tags. You're arriving before DME starts so you won't need tags for that part of your trip (I know you know that). If you're not on one of the "participating" airlines, you're going to have to handle your own luggage on your return trip, anyway, so there won't be any use for the special DME tags there, either.

I WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT I DON'T CONFUSE ANYONE WITH THIS MESSAGE. NORMALLY, YOU CAN FLY IN ON ANY AIRLINE AND GET THE LUGGAGE HANDLING (TO ME THAT'S THE MAGICAL PART OF DISNEY'S MAGICAL EXPRESS), BUT SINCE DUET IS FLYING INTO MCO BEFORE MAY 5, BEFORE DISNEY'S MAGICAL EXPRESS STARTS, HE/SHE IS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR THE LUGGAGE HANDLING ON THE ARRIVAL TRIP. AGAIN, IT HAS TO DO WITH THE DATE, NOT THE AIRLINE.

Yes, we are arriving before ME begins so we will be using a towncar service. (Stretch Hummer to surprise the family) We will be flying out United, and I was told they are a participating airline.

I would really like this info before we arrive. I do not want to waste time on my vacation trying to straighten this all out down there. This is a new service so there are bound to be some glitches, I would just like to deal with these glitches while I'm at home not on vacation!!

Duet, I'm fairly certain that since you are only going to be using ME for the return portion, you won't get luggage tags. Instead, since you are flying with a participating airline, you will take your luggage to the check-in desk of the resort you are staying at. Here they will check you in by giving you your boarding passes for your flight and checking your luggage. Once you give them your checked luggage, there won't be anything else you have to do. People will only need to put the luggage tags on their luggage themselves for the flight going into MCO, but for the flight going back, the check-in desk will take care of your luggage.

On a side note, the returning flight is the only portion that matters if you are flying with a participating airline. It doesn't matter at all on the incoming flight. Everyone can use ME on the returning flight, but it will just work a little different depending on if you are flying with a participating airline or not.

I think it depends on whether Disney requests a signature on delivery. I recently ordered a pair of Crocs from www.crocs.com and was amazed that the Fed Ex guy needed a signature for a $29 item, but he told me if the sender requests proof of delivery, then they cannot leave the package unless someone is home to sign for the item.

I guess then they would leave a notice to come pick it up..that's fine..

Just acknowledging that I received the same information on Thurday from my travel agent at AAA.

Except that I don't know whether Disney will FedEx the stuff directly to me or to my TA, who will then need to send it to me....

Thanks for the information! I have been waiting for them. Myself and my Mother are leaving Saturday April 30th. My son will be flying down on May 6th. I have been told not all airlines are in this. What does anyone know?? Thanks

The tags get sent to whomever "owns" the reservation. In your case, and mine, the DME luggage tags and info will be sent to your TA, not to you (just as your other Disney travel documents were sent to your TA and not to you). It is your TA's responsibility to get them to you. I have to wait for mail twice. Once for my TA to get them, and another time for her to mail them to me -- I live 150 miles from her office. As I've been saying on other threads, I'm leaving May 8 and I'm not worried. As long as I have the tags by May 7 then I'm golden. And if I don't have the tags? I have to get my luggage from Baggage Claim but I still get a free ride to and from the airport, so what is there to complain about? I could get my own luggage and pay Mears or a towncar service, or, if I don't get my tags, I could get my own luggage and let DME drive me for free. I know if I have to get my own lugagge it won't be ALL that was promised, but who cares, I'LL BE ON VACATION!!! HAKUNA MATATA!
