Boy, oh boy! Am I a little upset!

In September I made a ressie for Thanksgiving week at CBR and paid for a preferred location to be close to OPR. I had to shorten my stay, so I called back in October and changed the dates.

I was gathering my info, papers, etc. and noticed something about the second confirmation paper they sent me. I noticed that it no longer said N/S and it no longer said "preferred location", but did say "preferred water".

I just got off the phone with CRO, asking about why my confirmation didn't list N/S and why it said preferred water view and not preferred location. Well, they first can't FIND my reservation at all! Then he finds it under another number with the help of a guest relations manager, and he tells me that he can add the N/S to my requests, but that I am stuck with water view! He said when I changed the length of my stay, a new reservation was made. At this time they did not keep preferred location on the reservation. They typed in "preferred water", which means not a close room to OPR, and now he says there aren't any preferred locations to give me! I said "I had a preferred location ~~ when did I give it up??? He was at a loss to explain it, but said he'd mark it as a request in case something opens up.

Sheesh!

Now I have a view I didn't want, I am paying for it too, because there are no regular view rooms available. So I am stuck paying an extra $15 a night for a water view. And I really hope we don't end up really far away from OPR with my 75 y.o Mom with me.

I guess the moral to this story is to check over your paperwork carefully if you make any changes and call to confirm everything before your trip. At least after 20 minutes on hold they found my ressie under another number ~~ I would have spent 20 minutes at the check in desk next week with my Mom fretting about how they can't find my reservation in the system had I not called tonight.

Oh, that's too bad. Sorry that happened but hope everything works out for you. Here's some pd........... :wizard:

And also, this is a good reminder to everyone to make sure before you get off the phone with them, to have them repeat all the information and you repeat it back to them. I do this with dining ressies. I know the CM on the other end of the line is probably flipping his eyes, but I don't care. :teeth: I make sure we are on the same page before we hang up.

I wish they could change things about your ressie without changing the numbers. That's when things get screwed up. They have to start from scratch.

Have a great trip anyway.......I'm sure things will work out. :)

There is no way I would pay for a request I didn't make- no way. It's their mistake, they should eat the cost difference.

We are going thru AAA and booked POR first. Then DH decided he would prefer CBR. First set of papers after the change were correct with prefered location. We added an extra day. The second set of papers show CBR but in the notations at the bottom say POR with MYW with dining. I have been assured that everything is now fixed but am waiting for the final confirmation papers. Here's hoping neither of us have any problems at checkin!

It is hard to know where such a bit of confusion stemmed from. Sending a written confirmation (which they did) and offering a full refund within a few days of receipt of the confirmation (which I doubt the OP would have wanted) is more than enough consideration on the part of the resort.

While repeating the description of the reservation back at the end of the call is a very good idea, it is as likely as not that the OP wouldn't have noticed the nuance; it is rather subtle; and may not have even noticed the price increase. That's one of the limitations of doing business over the telephone, and one of the advantages of working with a B&M travel agent, in person (rather than over the telephone). However, there is a cost to that, and most folks would rather not pay that cost on an institutionalized basis. So we take our chances with the telephone, and live with the ramifications.

OP: I'm sure you'll have a great time anyway.

Sorry to hear that they screwed up. Be sure to mention it when you check in and they may be able to put you in the preferred location.

Not sure what you are referring to but you should not be paying a travel agent anything extra. Individual agents are also quick to rectify a mistake (and make compensation) as their reputation is at steak.

I had a ressie at the GF and when my 1st paperwork arrived it said GF. When the final paperwork arrived it had us staying at the AK. Big difference! It took about an hour and an "aggressive" tone and several supervisors to correct it since they said the GF had no rooms. Heaven help where they will have me when I get there Dec 4. This is not the first mistake they have made with this ressie. Walt would turn over in his grave if he knew the short cuts they now takd for more $$$.

It is becoming increasingly more difficult to find a travel agent who is willing to sit down with you face-to-face, and get you as good of a financial deal as you could get yourself. Around these parts, practically none.

I didn't realize that a whole new reservation is made and your old one is cancelled when you add or subtract days from your trip. I assumed they simply looked and if there was availability they added days on your existing ressie or if you were shortening it, they simply took days off. They never told me they were cancelling one and making a new one. You would think that the CM would assume everything else is still going to be the same, like N/S, and preferred room location. All we did was give up a few days. It was their error in entering the preferred view instead of the preferred location. It was my error for not catching it when the confirmation came in the mail.

Maybe mentioning it at check in might help. It certainly can't hurt!
I did have the CM at least list it as a request to be closer to OPR due to my mother's age/mobility.

Thanks, I am sure we will enjoy our stay wherever our room ends up being. Afterall, any day at WDW is better than a day at work!

They aren't supposed to. Some of the cast members are doing this and not telling people so that they can get the credit for the booking. They get in trouble for cancelling and rebooking instead of modifying if they are caught.

When I made my reservation for the yacht club, the first reservation confirmation letter they sent me had me down for only ONE night instead of 5. I emailed them and they changed it and sent out another confirmation. The second confirmation had me down for 4 nights. I emailed them again, and they sent another confirmation letter that was just fine. Mistakes happen, but boy am I glad I looked it over!!! :confused3
