Hello All. I had an unfortunate event occur tonight: my laptop was dropped. As of right now, it's looking like my hard drive is going to be reformatted, so I will lose all my files. It's going to take me a long time to build back up my designs, but I have left my photobucket public for people to look for designs there.

I do have people whose requests I have not filled yet, and I have NO way to complete their requests. Thankfully I have blanks folder in my photobucket with my mouse ears designs and others.

Anyone is welcome to personalize their own designs from my blanks, and DISigners: I'm more than happy for you to help others by personalizing my work for them. HOWEVER, I have one big request, and I hope this doesn't sound bad...

Please do not post my designs that you personalized for someone on the main board. Please work in PMs. I know that sounds odd, but I fully intend to come back (it may be a month or so) and continue designing. I'd like for my hard work (that I put so much heart and thought into) to stay credited to my name, and I'd like there to be no confusion on that.

Again, please don't take my request wrong. I'm heartbroken that I feel like my hobby has been stolen from me. I just want to have something to come back to once I have a computer again, and I want the designs to stay true to the designer who created them. It's taken me months to build up those designs and only 5 seconds for them to all be gone. I love all of your work, and I appreciate the help in my absence, and I'm praying that you all understand my request.

oh no! that is so unfortunate. Before you reformat see if a data recovery place can get your files back. Or go get an external harddrive and work off of that until you can have someone check out the harddrive.

I am so sorry to hear about your computer. I will miss seeing you on here. I hope they get you up and running sooner than you think. We thought we had lost all of our picture files a few years ago when our computer crashed due to a virus. Best Buy was able to contain the virus, and then they put the old hard drive in next to the new one in the new computer. That way we could pull all of our old pictures off of it. I don't know if that would work with a laptop, but maybe it's worth a shot.

Joanna - I am so sorry to hear about the "crash". Here's hoping they can find the files and save them to a new hard drive. Too bad you don't live in the Philly area, I would drop you off my lap top as I won't need it until after Christmas. Sending you good thoughts and pixie dust. If I can do anything, let me know. Thanks ya'll. A friend from church is currently trying to recover files for me. We have tried to fix it with a Windows XP disc, with unplugging and replugging in the hard drive, by taking out the hard drive and using a dongle to plug it to my new computer to read...

As of right now, by using the dongle, we could hear that the hard drive is clicking softly. I'm told that it's a good sign that it's not clicking loudly. So my friend took it home to try a tried and true computer techie trick -- freezing the hard drive in the freezer. Suppossedly that will do something like contract the metal enough for us to get about 20 minutes to grab my files and dump them elsewhere to put back on my computer.

Fingers crossed that this works. If not, I've got a lot of my pics on Facebook that I can get from there. The music I can live without. The designs that took me the longest to do thankfully mostly have blanks, so I'll work on recreating the others. I believe that I am retiring one or two designs though to save my sanity.

I'll keep ya'll posted on my (hopefully soon) return to designing. I'm spending the evening watching Desperate Housewives reruns and redownloading all my fun fonts.

Windows xp crashed on me this week,,,son was able to redo the registry(not even sure what this means) reinstall everything and save my files but I'm not taking any chances,,we backed up my files with an external USB key, all I know is I was eating --worse than waiting for the final episode od SURVIVOR,,lol

Hello All! Just thought I would update real quick! The hard drive popsicle did not work, so my files are all gone still. I believe we are going to try a data recovery place next.

I have now downloaded all of my fonts and Photoshop back onto my new computer, and I am just waiting to see if there is any hope of getting my designs back. Thankfully I do have my "blanks" folder on photobucket that I can restart with, but a lot of designs I don't have blanks of, and I'm going to have to recreated a bit. I should be back designing by the first of the year... hopefully. Not sure whether I'll be recreating stuff, or I'll be starting again with my old files. I'll keep you posted though. Right now I'm just holding on to hope that my files are still out there somewhere. Tonight I'm working on some of my text effects that I had saved as swatches.
