Every resort seems to be full 7 th months out

Today is our 7 th month window and sometimes we change resorts. But checking today just about every resort has no availability for the very end of Jan. Even the Polynesian which is our home has nothing SS is open full availability


Is there anything special going on or possibly a glitch in the system. It just seems funny that so much is booked up. Usually poly seems to always be open

I think a lot of people are traveling at that time and have booked most of the rooms.

There’s a big difference between Jan 17-24 and Jan 24-31 (before and after 7 month window). The only studio open in home resort window is xxxx January is a comfortable time of year to visit, northern DVC people like a winter respite, and the point season is economical.

We’ve been watching December availability the last 2 months with similar story.

Ah yes - that makes sense. I ran with "end of January" not taking the precise 7mth date into account.

You're traveling that week, MANY are traveling too.
Really no slow time any more. I think a factor is guest couldn't travel /get availability earlier in month.

I changed my one bedroom today at the 7 month date!

I was able to change my one bedroom on Wednesday 6/21 (7-month date) to a different resort. Maybe it's the type of room you're looking for that is causing the shortage in rooms.

I had to waitlist May 4th at 11 months! I have had a waitlist in for a night in September since the 7 month point. Time is ticking away on that one. I do have something booked for that night, but I was hoping to not have to move for my last night.

We've had decent luck grabbing things at 7 months for January, however I was hoping to switch our 4 nights in a 2BR at CCV to BCV today. No go. I'll keep looking, but really am fine keeping it at CCV. We do really want to switch out our remaining 3 nights there to AKV in a few days. For that one I can take a 1BR since our son won't be there for those days, so hopefully that will help. That's the one I really care about so . I was able to pick up VB a few days ago though (yeah, I know that one was easy ).

As mentioned above - there really are no slow times anymore.

I had to waitlist BW standard studio with May 5th checkin date and it filled just a week or so later. That was much easier than walking lol, but a gamble.

We have other resort waitlists for late December started at 7 months- none filled yet. Full availability popped up this week at a good alternate, but it was gone quickly and I was too late. Lesson learned there. Be ready to pounce when checking.

I think boardwalk has issues with the refurb taking out blocks of rooms, anyone know when this is supposed to end?

I mean if you're looking at a studio at the 7 month mark that isn't OKW or SSR then yeah you might not have as much luck. 1 bedrooms though are usually pretty available almost anywhere right at the 7 month mark.

No, DVC hasn’t announced anything yet. The room blockades start in mid-September, stop in mid-November, and start up again after New Year’s through early March. Whether they’ll be finished by then is unknown.

Are you looking just at studios?

I think Disney sold a zillion 75 and 100 point contracts over the last 10 years and now is dealing with the after effects of having way more people who only have enough points for a studio than they have studios.

Which speaks to the recent return of higher purchase minimums, and the decision to build 202 additional studios at VGF.
