Everest Expedition Question

I have a huge fear of heights, I just rode it last week, I survived but I am not running back to ride anytime soon. The worst part is the climb, it goes pretty high and also the broken track part. I know you aren't going to go off the end, but it seems like it. Also there is one part while going backwards that I felt like we were going to go upside down, It doesn't go upside down. I would go on again if my daughter wanted to, but I wouldn't be upset if she never asked again.

I hesitate to tell you this because of your fear of heights, but we always ride in the front and it is less intense for most of the ride. The reason I worry about you doing that, however, is that the front is outside the tunnel at the "broken track" part of the ride and gives you a view that is from wayyyy up and sometimes you may be paused there for longer than a few seconds, which may make you uncomfortable. You will feel a "g force" in some parts of the coaster (that feeling like you are being pushed down in your seat), but it's mild. I've said this before, but you probably won't like it the first time...try it again, and you'll LOVE it! Watch the POV videos on YouTube, they're helpful!

A note on that drop: I hate drops, as a rule, but didn't feel EE's as much in my stomach as other rollercoaster drops. Perhaps because it starts to turn at the end. Splash Mountain's affects me more (though I still love the ride).

I rode Splash Mountain once. Once was enough for me! I hate that big drop at the very end. I think it’s eape worse for me because there is no safety belt.

The beginning part is high in the sky, but I felt enclosed by the vehicle and scenery, so the heights were more than tolerable.

To me, the drops on FoP felt about 900 times more intense than either the backwards part or the big drop outside the mountain.

EE is a very smooth ride. No harsh, jerking movements or bumpiness. I’m a huge ride chicken. I won’t go on Rockin Rollercoaster or ToT, but Everest, I can handle. The theming of it is fantastic, and it’s worth trying at least once to see it.

FoP is intense?!! I thought you are just sitting on a bike and it doesn’t actually go up hills? Maybe I should rethink FoP??

Unfortunately, the only way to know is to try the ride once and see since everyone is different in how they experience both of them. I did both EE and FOP in Oct. I am a heights chicken. I will not ride either one again. The drops on FOP were not good for me - i just tried to look straight ahead. The calm flying areas were just fine and beautiful. I can't explain what it was about EE but I was glad it was done. As other posters have stated, both rides are very smooth and have parts that you will enjoy.

You ARE just sitting on a bike. That is one of the things that makes FOP so great for me. I am always afraid I'm going to fall out of Soarin; NOT so with FOP. I KNOW I'm not going to actually fall. Visually you are dropping, but there is NO WAY you are actually going to fall. It is such an amazing experience. Disney has outdone itself and set the bar that will be hard for others to meet.

I think if you can handle Big Thunder mountain, Expedition everest will be a piece of cake. I think Big thunder has a lot more random dips and drops. I don't enjoy the backwards part, mostly because at my height, going backwards I don't see the turns and I almost always knock my head against the back of the upper part of the seat. I try to solve that by pushing my head back into the seat, but it's kind of hard as you are reversing.

Yes, I was able to handle Big Thunder Mountain because I felt like they slowed you down as you went down the big hills and didn’t go down as fast as it could.

I am terrified of heights. I was able to go on the roller coasters at MK, but I’m not sure about Everest at AK. Going forward, it seems to go somewhat slow down the big hills (similar to MK roller coasters). But it’s hard to tell if they are too fast / scary going backwards. Will I be okay riding this? My DD (age 8) loves roller coasters and wants to ride this.
It starts off like Big Thunder Mtn....nice and easy....but then the backwards part and finale are intense...but short. Try it!

It's a simulated intensity. You don't displace more than 2-3 ft vertically in either direction. You could always close your eyes if it gets too intense :)

Regarding EE, I'm just starting to get into coasters and haven't had much trouble with it. The first time I rode I had an issue (my usual issue of just having no control over what's happening, haha), but haven't had any issues since. It's now one of my favorite rides!

I would advise that you brace your feet against the bottom of the seat in front of you once you see the Yeti (IF you see the Yeti) because the ride ends at that point and the brakes are a little rough. Maintenance needs to trim those like crazy.
