I am terrified of heights. I was able to go on the roller coasters at MK, but I’m not sure about Everest at AK. Going forward, it seems to go somewhat slow down the big hills (similar to MK roller coasters). But it’s hard to tell if they are too fast / scary going backwards. Will I be okay riding this? My DD (age 8) loves roller coasters and wants to ride this.

The backwards part may get to you but give it a try once. There is a single rider line if your daughter wouldn't mind going alone.

It doesn't go slow. It reaches 50 mph. Big thunder is 35 and 7dmt is 34mph

I love coasters so I don't find it intense, but it is on another level vs the kiddie coasters at mk.

If you're worried about speed and want to feel a little slower then sit in the front

It's a great coaster

Does it go 50 mph when it’s going forward? Or only when going backwards?

It will feel faster during the backwards part if you sit in the front. It will feel faster during the forwards parts, such as the big drop coming out the mountain, if you sit in the back.

I'm not exactly sure on what part but I'm pretty sure it's the forward part when you come down the big drop and back into the mountain. That part feels faster than the backwards part

What if we sit in the middle section? Will they let us sit in the middle section?

I am a roller coaster chicken. I haven't done RNR in years. I love the smaller MK coasters though. My fiancee got me to ride Everest twice this past July. I actually didn't mind it. I really hate heights and did keep my eyes closed on the ascent at the beginning of the ride. But after that it was fine. And we sat in the back.

The backwards parts feels REALLY fast and spirally. Scariest part, IMO. But, give it a try. I'm a bit of a coaster chicken myself, and finally tried it in Oct. I rode it multiple times and can't wait to ride it again!

As a fellow coaster chicken, your comment makes me feel a little better. Thanks!

Another roller coaster chicken, but EE was ok for me. I did the best sitting towards the front. (Back was a little too much for me).
At least give it a try

Really? I would have bet money that BTMR was significantly faster than 7DMT. Very interesting.

I would also assume that the fastest speed is on the big forward drop. I don’t care for dark coasters so I don’t care for that portion of EE but it doesn’t feel all that fast to me.

it took me 3 trips to finally ride Everest. Now I look forward to riding it again in April. one of my favorites.

I don't think the backward part would be an issue if heights are your concern. The backward part is mostly in the dark. There is one sizable drop facing forward toward the end:

A note on that drop: I hate drops, as a rule, but didn't feel EE's as much in my stomach as other rollercoaster drops. Perhaps because it starts to turn at the end. Splash Mountain's affects me more (though I still love the ride).

I'm not afraid of heights in general, but I always feel a little panicky when we do the first climb up. The view is beautiful and it's amazing going all the way up, but the lower sides of the roller coaster are "open" and it kind of freaks me out.

As someone who hates heights, I would say it's not the backwards drop that gets you. It's the part where the track is "broken" and it makes you think you are going to fly off it and get launched into the great blue sky.

I love roller coasters, and Everest doesn't feel that much faster during the forward part. In terms of heights, you don't feel that high because you're surrounded by the mountain for much of it. The first big hill takes you a long way up, but it's moving slowly. The back part isn't scary but does a weird number on my stomach sometimes. With that said, you can't tell how far up you are, especially if you look straight ahead. I'd give it a shot at least once.

The beginning part is high in the sky, but I felt enclosed by the vehicle and scenery, so the heights were more than tolerable.

To me, the drops on FoP felt about 900 times more intense than either the backwards part or the big drop outside the mountain.

EE is a very smooth ride. No harsh, jerking movements or bumpiness. I’m a huge ride chicken. I won’t go on Rockin Rollercoaster or ToT, but Everest, I can handle. The theming of it is fantastic, and it’s worth trying at least once to see it.
