Everest Challenge question

Hi everyone :wave2:! I'm brand new to the W.I.S.H. board and I have a question about the Everest Challenge in September. I apologize if this has already been covered, but a quick search didn't find the info I was looking for.

This year's challenge is being held on the last evening of our WDW vacation. My DW and I would really like to participate, but we have 2 small kiddies: DD(7) and DS(4). I know they also have kids races that night and I would assume they are supervised somehow, or do the parents kind of "do the races" with the kids? I would assume there would have to be some kind of supervision/child care during the big event?

Thanks!

Good question....I assumed they don't have any but would like to know as well. We want to do one of the events but can't figure out what to do with our kids. Staying home seems like a cool option for mom/dad, but I'd really prefer to make a family vacation out of it.

There is no childcare provided by Disney during the actual event if both parents are running. My best suggestion is to use one of the kids' clubs (like the Nerverland Club, etc.). Be prepared, though, as that will be a costly option. If you are member of one of the WISH racing teams, there are often people who make arrangements to help each other out and watch kids, etc. but these are arranged privately.

I suggest that you re-post this on the events thread as you will get more responses.

Hi Todd and Welcome to WISH!

I'll transfer this thread to the Events side of WISH where you will hopefully get some info from the seasoned participants who have children.

Join us in the Weekly Walking/Running thread if you can for your training. We love to share experiences.

They are not supervised. We had our kids do the kids races at the Minnie last year and parents had to help get the kids to the starting and then we quickly trotted over to watch them finish.

I agree in sending the kids to the kids club. We did the EEC last year and sent our kids to the Animal Kingdom kids club.

Another thing to consider is that EE takes a long time to complete. Due to the wave starts, if the race begins at 7:30 pm you might not get on the course before 8:30 pm or so. If it takes you an hour to complete the race and then you want to hang out at the after party in the park (which is very fun, you get to ride all of the rides with short lines) it could be a pretty late night. When my wife and I did it last year, I don't think we got back to our hotel until around 11 pm or later.
