Just made it back from an awesome vacation at the world and wanted to report to those wondering about Everest from someone who is rather timid about rollercoasters and has a pinched nerve in my neck and back. Well, first off, this ride is awesome!! Disney did a great job. I won't be able to ride it again but I'm glad I rode it at least once--bought my picture to prove that I did! I know they warn against someone with my back condition riding, but many times I'm okay (like Rock 'n Roller Coaster and Mummy don't bother me).

The ride itself is smooth in most places, especially the backwards motion (it wasn't a problem at all--and quite fun!), but the outside rails had their moments when it resembled the "jerked" turns of Thunder Mountain. Those jerked turns were the only problem for me. If the ride had indeed been as smooth as Rock 'n Roller Coaster, I would have been able to do it over and over again. It did not bother my neck, but it did a number on my back and it was sore for the next two days. I got over it, but it was just unpleasant enough to slow me down from wanting to ride it again.

Again, the ride is awesome so don't flame me. I am writing this post only to help others like me that are looking are ALL info they can get on the ride before deciding whether to do it.

By the way, there's TONS of leg room on this ride so anyone tall can definitely enjoy this one.

...can't wait to go back to the world again....love that mouse!!

:thumbsup2 I agree with you, LoveToDisney! I had a lumbar microdiscectomy just over a year ago and rode twice in a row 2 weeks ago. My surgeon told me to wait a year before going on a rollercoaster again, so the timing for EE was perfect. I was a little tight and tender for a couple of days, but I would definitely go again, just not twice in a row. It is an incredible ride, but that big drop/turn combo was a bit jarring.

Sorry to hear about your experience on Everest. I rode it three times (front the front) and found it to actually be quite smooth.

It was smooth enough for me, so that after my first ride, seeing how smooth it was, I took out my very expensive camera and took photos during the entire ride.

Every spot on the train is different though and everyone reacts differently to the ride. Sorry to hear about it.

I rode in the center of the train. Interesting to think whether the front area would have been less jarring in that drop turn. Thanks for your replies.

I rode the EE coaster a couple of times this past Sunday (March 19). I was on a solo trip this time, having driven down to WDW mainly to see a couple of spring training baseball games, but felt the need to visit the Animal Kingdom because of the new coaster.

The ride did seem a bit smoother when sitting near the front, and a bit jerkier near the back (but not bad at all). As far as a back problem, I did feel it in my back when the coaster hooks onto the chain pulling it up a hill. (Seems like that happens twice during the ride.) I quickly learned to lean forward just a bit, so that my back was not resting on the chair's back when we were nearing an uphill climb. (That leaning foward a bit works well on Space Mountain as well.)

It's a wonderful ride methinks.

Enjoy.
